Yeah hate them solid 2012's boxes. We got hammered with 2012 dimes down here about 2 or 3 months ago. I got a couple boxes of dimes a few weeks ago and didn't see many 2012's but when I checked on getting some nickels the boxes were all 2012's. So hopefully the dimes will clear up soon for you.

    Today's results:
    $2 Pennies: 30 copper, a 1947D wheat.
$6 Nickles: 1947D, and one extra.
    $5 Dimes: Skunk.
    $120 Quarters: Skunk.

With the ATB quarters, nickles and dimes, a lot of 2012. All were Ds. Los Angeles gets all the Ds, maybe you Easterners can swap us some Ps...

Also got a New Zealand 20___ sitting in the Coinstar thing, and an Israel half shekle from a cashier. Got to be nice to her, she buys a lot of my rolls for the store.

i have been finding lots of proof everything lately. I guess with the economy in the crapper ppl are turning in coins for cash at the banks not realizing what they have. been doing pretty good with silver halves as well.

Oh I also wanted to mention this. I recently moved back to Alabama and had never searched volume here before. Upon returning a box of halves I was told that they had to weigh every roll which was strange because this hadn't been done when I was in Mississippi. The box was a skunk so I didn't keep any coins. As she weighed them 4 of them were off which she gave me to recheck. 3 of them were short one coin and 1 had one too many. This was from a $500 fed box so I didn't even bother to count the coins as I went through them. I don't feel I should really have to check the rolls since I paid full price for them, but anyway I thought it was worth noting. I told her what had happened (not expecting her to give me my dollar back or even believe me, as she didn't know me) and she said that the fed boxes are off sometimes...that seems a little silly I would figure this should be an exact science.

I've had fed rolls off as much as 2+ and 3-. You just never know. I do test the rolls to see how tall they are. I check 2 rolls side by side for how tall they are, and I catch a lot of them that way. If they are sealed rolls and I have not opened them, I can return them for a full roll.
Last box of nicks found a 1950 p which was one I needed for an album. 1 war, 22 pre 1960, and 6 2009. Also found 2 really nice UNC early dates with beautiful luster, and nice strike, 60 and 68.

I've had that happen as well. Also, I've opened two boxes that were short one roll from the fed!!!! Therefore, I open every box at the counter in front of the teller.

jatallman87 - WOW. Great pickup....60 40%ers! Go back and get more CWRs from that bank!

    Today, I picked up 3 half dollars......one of them was a 1964 :D First 90%er in a while. :D

I'm almost positive that the Fed doesn't roll coins. They only ship out bags of coins. It's the armored car companies, or in some cases the banks' central vaults, that need to recalibrate or clean their wrapping machines.

    $4 loose Ikes: Nothing
$54.50 loose halves: One 40%, one Franklin
    $130 CWR halves: One 40%
    $125 BWR dimes: Nothing
$410 CWR dimes: Just two silver Roosies. A little disappointing, but it could have been much worse!

I have noticed that banks that won't normally sell you a significant number of rolls without an account will usually let you buy CWR if you say you don't care if they're short. The best part is that CWR dimes around here are long on average!

"I'm almost positive that the Fed doesn't roll coins. They only ship out bags of coins."

Yea, not fed, bank, or $ handeling company, but more in particular, machine rolled. Thats of already circulated coin.

I don't think I have ever found an original uncirculated roll be off. I think they weigh each roll (also by machine handling) to double check the count of each roll. Then weigh each box to triple check. I know the mint does a lot of weighing as step checks all throughout their process. I imagine the companies that do the first roll of new coin do so also.

I have also run into cointainer rolls, the ones that are machine crimped on one end, that were stuffed as full as they could be and still fold the other end. 1 or 2 extra in ever roll.

  17. Today 2 boxes of halves skunk on silver but I got 3 proofs lol

I'm still 3.5 oz short of my goal for the month but ahead of where I was at this time last month. I have 2 boxes of halves to pick up today and 2 more on Saturday. I'm planning on a big week next week. I'm not expecting a huge score or anything just trying to do as much volume as I can to make a good effort at my goal. Boxes of halves have been terrible so I'll try and sniff out some CWR as well.

You are correct, of course, but I was just using "Fed" as a short for Brinks, Loomis, and whomever else wraps them.
