Not rare by any stretch, but a nice coin just the same, and without any stains or other impairments.

Well, there are only two things that rabbits are good for. Eating or using as test animals in pharmacology experimentation.

I came across a very nice Icelandic 1946 1 Krona in MS-65. This is a very hard coin to find in MS condition let alone one that would grade this high because they either have to many marks on them with no mint luster or are covered with some eviomental problem,,,which has always been a problem with the 1 Krona and 2 Kronur coins. I have managed to find two that are in my collection but they have little marks in the fields that would keep it from grading higher then a 63.

  10. Pretty sure that Stallion is going to pork him. Not exactly coin material. Italy coins are off my list.

Funny you should mention the design, my first reaction to the obverse is that he resembled some sort of soap opera stud. In any case, at least the Italians have never used an outline of Silicy as part of a coin design unlike some other erstwhile north American countires which shall remain anonymous.

Maybe it's not coin material for you, but that is a detail from a fountain/monument in Rome, the "Fontana dei Dioscuri" at the Piazza del Quirinale. See here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fontana_dei_Dioscuri and (link from that article) the image here http://www.thais.it/citta_italiane/roma/fontane/piazze/piazza_Quirinale/Alte/001.jpg Nah, that side is fine with me. What I do not particularly like is Italia's head on the other side ...

Not Sicily by itself, as far as I know, but of course the island is depicted on coins as part of Italy. Well, at least the outline is more interesting than that of, say, Ohio. ;)

I agree Christian, the side of the coin that I don't particularly care for is the man-ish Italia head.

    How are these coins free?

I would check some of the free coins depicted for proper "silver" alloy, weight, & dimension.

The halfcrown for one is cupronickel and contains no silver at all.
