I'm going to Vegas at the end of July for a few days and would like to look at/buy some coins. No particular kind, just whatever I feel I can't live without. What are some good spots to visit?
I can recommend two shops I frequent. First one is where my friend works and it's probably way out of the way as it's in the suburbs some 20 miles from the Strip, called Sun City Coin. It's located in Sun City, Summerlin. The other is Sahara Coins located on West Sahara, about 5 miles from the Strip. I buy from both of these location often. Guy
I was looking on-line and had found Sahara Coin, but I also found Round-Em-Up Coins also on Sahara. Any smaller shops?
I've been to nearly every shop that has been in business here over the last 30 years and I believe Sahara Coins to be the best of what we have to offer. Pawn shops just don't have an inventory and all seem to be Redbook priced for their sales. A while back I took a few items to see if I might want to trade or sell them. I stopped at another coin shop and at Sahara coins. The price quoted me for mine was exactly double at Sahara coins. You know, when a dealer doesn;t seem like he's trying to take every advantage, it's more the kind of guy I feel I can trust. I have never had a problem with them. I have made a couple of purchases on-line from Sun City coins and he has advertised, pictured his merchandise as honestly as can be done, in my opinion. I am very satisfied with what I got from them. We are precieved as a place where people come, lose all their money and sell their valuables very cheaply for money to go home on. But, truthfully, most people don;t travel with their valuables, much less coins. And people who can afford coins, usually have credit cards. We are a smaller city and can't support a great number of B&M stores like major cities can. Los angeles has a far greater number of choices available for instance. I am sure Chicago, Kansas City, New York of course and those places are much better for selections. You are likely to have a greater number of choices in Studio City, Hollywood, West L.A. , Van Nuys, Woodland Hills, Canoga Park, etc than here. Just sayin' gary
Actually I have been there. Stood in line for 30 min - 1 hour to see some really overpriced stuff. Fun for once, but not again. Some other Pawn Shops might be interesting.
