Money Tied Up in CRH

For you guys that seriously look for silver (meaning by the box or bag) how much money do you keep tied up in coin at any given time? I know CRH is practically free provided you find a reliable dump bank, but getting multiple boxes of multiple denominations still takes hundreds or thousands of dollars out of the checking account and into a hobby.

So, what is the average amount of money do you have at any given time tied up in coinage? My $40-$50 isn't cutting it for finding much silver.

I currently have a little over $500 out. I go through at least $500 a week.

My cap is $250. I bought a box of dimes and realized that even though I want to eventually buy halves, a finite amount of financial resources is preventing me from doing so. Therefore, buying a few rolls of halves every so often and taking what I can get scratches the silver itch

I currently have $1500 in half/dime seaching fund. And around $600 in penny seaching fund. Although penny fund is kind a revolving door, I occasionally sell some copper to replenish my funds.

I've got at least $2k at all times. I search a lot of half boxes so it still doesn't go extremely far. when I dump my coins at the end of the week I deposit the extra money I have that's over $2k into my account :)

I've got about $2,000 for dimes and quarters and about $800 in pennies. This turns over about monthly.

I've switched my CRH to varieties & errors. There isn't any silver left in the Midwest :)

I have about $500 tied up at any one time. I typically search 2 $250 boxes and 3 $500 bags of dimes per week.

When you say tied up. I get a little confused. I would only say money is tied up, for coin I hold. So for pennies it's the worst. You find 25% of your money is no longer available each week. Whereas with halfs, dimes, you are getting probably 99% or more back.

How much money do I use to coin roll hunt? Enough to buy a couple boxes of nickels and halfs each week.

I keep about $1.2 Million in halves and dimes. I think my house is about the fall down!

Just playing :D, I don't search silver. I pick up and drop off about $100 worth of pennies each month. I sort each coin and look for about 40 different varieties, so $100 lasts all month.

Wow that must be timely. I used to do that a couple years ago. I'd sort the pennies into buckets; all copper, '83, '84, '95, '98-00.

Then I gave up on error and variety hunting. I miss looking for the 1984 and 1995 ddo's. Have you found many?

    Haven't found any 84's or 95's. I've found 98-99-00 WAMS, 94 DDR's (Columns), 83 DDO, 88 w/89 reverse, and a 1960 doubled date.

Wow. I'm really jealous of you. I never found a single '83 DDR. I would have liked to find one of those. I did find an '84 and 2 '95 DDO's.

I found a lot of WAM's (no '99s) not sure if they'll really become all that valuable though.

Now I'll probably just trade copper, wheats or silver for these coins.
