I don't know much of anything about paper money and my grandmother was asking me if her silver note held much value. I told her maybe $5. Is that a good guess? Here is a picture of the serial number.

Okay. Right around what I was thinking. I didn't know if the serial number was special or anything. Like I said before I know little to nothing about paper money. I just saw it started with a zero and thought it could be something, but instincts told me probably not.

Maybe some sentimental value, but not much above that. BNR shows $3.00 in VF, and your granny's note is fine at best.
These 1957 SC's are common in uncirculated condition, and your serial number is less than ordinary.

it would need to start with 4 or 5 zeros to start getting interesting

Dealers pay only about $1.25-1.50, collectors may but it for $2 depends what they want/need it for, ebay who knows I've see stuff like this reach the $3-4 dollar range but there is also the paypal and ebay fees taken out, so it's a hollow victory. That's also assuming you charge calculated shipping otherwise it's a loss. My advice is always try to find 50-100 (half to a full b.e.p. strap) and sell them that way. You'll get more for it without such a hit on the fees.

I have to concur with the consensus here. The 1957 series is generally common in uncirculated condition, even some of the stars as well. In the condition of the note, I'd say $3 on a good day. Sentimental value is worth way mire though!

There are so many of these things left it is crazy. It seems everyone's grandmother saved them.
