Gemmy Swiss Franc's There one semi modern Swiss Franc the 1961 is a very low mintage one.Why silver hold up from bullion distributor got late in 1961.that what my world notes for reason of the low mintage. #####But the 1961 I posted is not a new buy its one I have had 12-20yrs************.:kewl:
Newest horse coin. This one features Neptune riding in a quadriga pulled by 4 seahorses. The total mintage of this one is 15,000 pieces.
^^ This coin comes as a part of a 10 coin set that sells for around 250$, how much did you pay for it? As a note I think there are 2 sets, one with NI and the other without, I think " again " that the "NI" one is more expensive.
Yes, sets are easier to work with, purchase, ship and store, if you are not interested in a numeric grade and do not like to hunt for specific denomination of a specific year then sets are the best, usually it is either proof or mint set, and usually will give you all the denominations of that year, and sometimes you will get full details about all the coins in the set and more. they only downside is they cost more and take more space for storage.
The two types are the "FM" and the non-FM for the series. The "FM" is the more common (mintage 15,000), whereas the non-FM has a mintage of only 5,000. http://www.ngccoin.com/poplookup/Wo...gory=51958&worldcoinid=139829&FromSearch=true I gave around $50 for this one because of the subject (horses). Maybe I'm silly, but for some issues I don't look at price guides. If I like a coin, I put in a maximum bid that seems reasonable to me. My goal isn't to sell them, so the value is intrinsic to me. I also liked the toning on the reverse.
Sede Vacante 500 Lire dated 1958 This is the second copy of this particular coin in my collection. It is a Vatican City 500 Lire. This copy was purchased in a little felt-lined box. The Roman numerals on the coin indicate 1958. My 2-year old Krause Catalog lists it as 1961 and my PDF Krause lists it as 1958. I assume that I have it labeled correctly as 1958. There were 100,000 of these Sede Vacante coins minted. Sede Vacante indicates that the Vatican's leadership seat was vacant when the coin was minted.
It is not nice to talk about the Queen like that, despite and resemblance it might have to the truth.
1958 is right. It was struck after the death of Pope Pius XII, and before the election of Pope John XXIII. Nice coin :thumb: petronius :smile
I've been collecting coins from late 19th and early 20th cen. Europe and colonial possessions, because those seem to be fairly affordable. Then I found this, and even though I'm poor, I had to have it. It's a Russian rouble minted in 1898. I think it must be circulated, but the detail is really great - the shields on the Romanov eagle and the tsar's facial details are still visible. I was very happy to find this for a good price, considering how worn down the similar examples I've seen on eBay were. I know this probably isn't a big deal to you guys, but I'm a noob when it comes to coins, so I was pretty excited about this one.
Since July 4th is coming up here is something to mark that occasion. This coin was minted by Haiti to commemorate USA's Bi Centennial.
Got this from the set I gave away in the contest I had (actually the main reason I got the set for this one) It has a low mintage of 64,000, not the scarcest Irish coin but the probably the most affordable of the low mintage coins -Owen
