What a fun lot of notes! I also like that SN on the $1 Operation Torch note. Of course I love that Series of 1917 $2 large size note too. It's one of my favorites and the two I have in my collection are both very special to me. Congrats on the new additions! :thumb:

Can you explain this error a little? I see the break, through the leaves and border -- is this akin to a plate crack?

Thanks guys. I ended up spending over $300 at the auction, but got some nice metal discs as gifts for people this year, some seated liberty dimes for my collection, and the paper notes as well. TBH, I doubt I paid over half of book value for anything at the auction as traffic was light and most people were going for the silver dollars. One guy and I went into a bidding war on another Operation Torch note, but its because it was a star note and I've never seen one for auction before. Too bad a phone bidder won that item.

krispy - I have been wanting the $2 note for years and it was on my wish list for this year. I'm glad I was able to get it for such a great price.

That's a nice note icerain. I need to up grade my large size five dollar reserve note to this level. I bought mine way back when I just started collecting paper currency. I would be happy with something in this grade.

IMAG0649.jpg Picked up this lot of rough looking fractionals today at an auction for $6. I think it was worth it.

Hard to argue with a buck each for notes, even for fractionals that rough...

You can't go wrong for six bucks Dr. BTW, the Baltimore show starts this Thursday and I feel it's my obligation to let you know about it. You kind of tasked me to remind you awhile back, so here's your reminder. If you go, it's easy to find me...I'll be at Alan Teal's table buying all his NJ obsoletes.:D

Thanks for the reminder Bruce! I may end up going but it depends on what else I spend my money on in the meantime. :)

Just got these notes this morning!

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of a premium does that guy go for?

Seriously long gutter fold, and it's always a bonus when it hits the portrait...

Well, you know how much I like the Series 1975 $2 Federal Reserve Note, First Day of Issue with a stamp and postmark. I received two this week with interesting postmarks. The first note is postmarked "U. S. Marine Corps HQ FMFLANT" — That's the United States Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic headquartered at Naval Station Norfolk. The second not is postmarked "Omaha Nebraska Stock Yards" (and it's a Minneapolis Federal Reserve District!).

Clay, I hope that deuce from Omaha doesn't smell like a stockyard

It also looks like the first note is printed by COPE-PAK and the second is conventional printing.

That looks like a Series 2004 A $10 Single Note from the BEP, one of the first 3,500 Series 2004 A $10 Federal Reserve Notes produced for the Federal Reserve.

I didn't detect any observable smell on the note. :)
