Found this yesterday in some bank rolls. This one appears on the census, haven't been able to find out how much it's worth though. Anyone have an idea? It isn't in the best condition, the spot on the reverse appears to be some kind of rust.
I typed 2005P bison rotated die and ebay into google, nothing came up. Is there another way to search old auctions there? I did find an article or something about a guy who had the best luck with that bison nickel for finding rotated dies, it said he sold one on ebay for $211 and another better quality one for a couple of thousand, it said he found 3 all together. Something like that anyway. This doesn't help me though since I have no idea what condition the lower amount one was in when he sold it.

Hey I like that rotated die Bison nickel. Congrats on finding it. I got to thinking that if there is one, there are more from the same die pair. A similar situation, just like damaged dies and cud producing dies, only probably more difficult to spot by a mint employee watching the production. I wonder if mint employees watching the production stop every now and then and inspect the dies and the coins they are making? Would that employee be called a press operator or what? I don't know. I have several bank wrapped UNC rolls of these 2005 P Bison nickels, maybe I should look for one like yours.
That website that rev1774 posted looks like a great study but the last update was Mar 1st 2012. If you report your nickel to the owner of that site remind him to change the last update info too. Looks like he hasn't found too many of the 2005 P Bison nickels so far. Under 30 anyways.
What a great find! This is such a hard thing to spot if you aren't looking for it. A rotated die coin can go through circulation without anyone every noticing. Sorry I can't help out on value, but that rotation is pretty drastic and would be very desirable to an error collector I'm sure.
Thanks all. For the longest time I thought I was wasting my time looking at both sides of these coins, but that's 2 90* and 1 70* I've found now within like 6 months. I guess if there isn't an auction listed or a value listed someplace you're just left to see what happens. I listed it on ebay, started at $49, I figure it should be worth at least that much. We'll see how it goes.
Wanted to add that the final bid was 133 in case anyone finds one of these and runs across this thread. I'm thinking I'll do pretty good with the other one if I ever get rid of it since it's presumably an R8 since no other examples have been listed anywhere.
