I went with art bars/rounds. I only have one bar but many rounds. Would have said Eagles but I've gotten bored with them and their higher premiums. Junk silver other than Mercs at spot has lost its appeal. And I don't see enough Maple Leafs and others around me to check that option. I'm trying to buy as close to spot as possible, so the art rounds are currently the way to go.
The old '70's silver art bars is how I like my silver since August 2008. My passion to collect them is as strong now as it was when I started almost 4 years ago.
I had to vote "Junk US silver" because you did not include a "non-junk US silver" option, e.g silver BU Washington Quarters, BU Franklin halves, BU roosevelt silver dimes, etc.
When I started I was picking up lots of silver rounds, bars, and art bars, but when silver hit the 40s last year I sold off most of it, now I enjoy picking up junque silver and filling slots in albums, I am also accumulating three year sets of eagles one for each of my children.
Junk silver gets my vote. I like that the coins have history. Also lately I've been scoring a lot of silver flatware at garage sales. When the time is right,I will cash it in and buy coins.
Of the options given - ASEs (better resale value ). My first choice would be buying paper shares. Who wants to trip over piles of silver when you walk through the door?
I don't think you get how small an area say $100,000 in silver would occupy ? Call that roughly 5 bags ( $1,000 face value). That would fit under your bed easily, under your bathroom sink, maybe in two good size suitcases, etc.
