I have been hunting for Nickels and Copper bullion since January. I have made at least 200 dollars profit. Now I am hoarding Canadian and American Copper & Nickel. Today I got two boxes of Canadian Pennies and a box of Canadian Nickels. This is what I found. So out of that. The ones in the glass and the rolls are 590 of Pre 1980 Canadian Copper and at $0.0232944 each it would be $13.74 minus the face value 5.90 which would equal $7.84 total profit in those. Next would be the 1980 - 1996 which are worth $0.017974 each. I have about 1410 of so it would be worth which is $25.34 in copper. Now subtracting the face value of 14.10 so total profit would be $11.24. Now the roll sitting on the left side below the tin would be pre 1982 American. Each penny is worth $0.021944. I have 50 so it would come out to 1.09 subtract the face value of 50 cents would be $0.59. All together I am up $19.67 in copper. This weekend I looked through a box of Pennies. They take way less time I find. I found 360 Nickels. Each Nickel is $0.0745209. If I multiply that by 360 I get $26.82 now subtracting $18 face value I get a total profit of $8.82. All together I am up $8.82 in Nickel. I also have 2 boxes of 1980 - 1996 Pennies and I box of Pre 1980 Pennies. All that is 148.10 in Copper minus $75 face value would equal 73.10 total profit. I will keep you updates on my finds. Next order is 4 boxes of nickels and 2 boxes of pennies. Probably pick up this Wednesday or Thursday.
Summer break is starting Thursday which is great. I hope the bank have lots of boxes. I will need to start going to different branches because the one I got to now I guess I am running them dry because I pick up the coins the same day they do and I get there first and they can only have a certain amount so I take a bunch of their stock of coins so there is not a lot for the business people.
I also save the pre 1982 cents and five cents coins. My best finds are the occasional GV coins, a couple of weeks ago I got a 1930 dated 5 cents coin. My best find in cents is a nice EF GV from 1925 - pretty much my best find ever in cents. Not the oldest, not the rarest, but definitely the most valuable.
Going to pick up the coins as we speak. Also forgot to mention that I found a Newfoundland penny 1941 in last weeks search.
Searched through 3 boxes of nickels found 840 pre 1982 nickels. Got two other boxes but they were all 2012. May try to sell them.
Just finished looking through one box of pennies. Found this: Two rolls of pre 1982 American. 10 Rolls of 1980 - 1996 Canadian Pennies and 5 rolls of Pre 1980. All together 17 rolls of copper so %34 of the box was copper. A lady from the bank said someone bring in there piggy bank savings. $25 in pennies which must have taken them a long time so hoping to find some old ones.
Just went through the 50 rolls of pennies which someone brung in. It was super good. 42 rolls were copper. 3 Pre '82 American and 12 were pre 1980 canadian and 27 were 1980 - 1996. 84% of the box was copper.
I forgot to right down the results of the other searches. XD So went looking for coin to 5 banks. Found this:
I opened a roll which looked old and had the 12 sided ones and found this. I was screaming on the inside.
Just finished looking through two boxes. Here are the results. Box 1: 205 Nickels that a all Nickel so %10.25 of the box was Nickel. Box 2: This box had a bunch of rolls like the ones above. In this one I found 78 Pre 1963 an 280 Nickel Nickels so 368 Nickel Nickels. In that box %18.4 was nickel. I will be starting the 7 boxes of pennies tomorrow.
Found this Struck Through Die Cap. Since I am posting I will post my results for pennies so far. Penny Box 1: 19 Rolls copper 38% of the box was copper. Penny Box 2: 20 Rolls Copper 40% of the box was copper Penny Box 3: 1926 Canadian Penny (Semi Key Date) F18 or VF20 Found the Struck Through Die Cap 19 Rolls Copper 38% of the box was copper
Penny Box 4 and 5 seemed to have already been searched. =( Penny Box 6: 26 rolls copper. %52 Copper. Penny Box 7: 23 rolls copper. %46 copper.
I'd think it would be more difficult to find the GV and GVI in Canada where more people should be familiar with them. What stops them in BWR here is the fact that they are magnetic and coin machines won't take them. That doesn't mean I haven't found them in BWR, but they are much more common in CWR where nobody looks or cares - I even get Dominican, Panamanian, Bahamian coins in CWR. I am finding a lot of the new steels in BWR, apparently some banks or processing companies must be adjusting their machines. Today I found '40 and '41 GVI cents.
Today I went to the bank to get three boxes of nickels and a box of pennies. Sadly the boxes of nickels were crimped rolled. =( Anyway the pennies looks good and cannot wait to search them. =) 5 Boxes of pennies. Going to call a few other bank to see if they have boxes of nickels.
Posted an ad on Kijiji for penny and nickel hoards. Some guy brang 5.3 pounds of Pennies. Paid 15.79. Hoping it is good!
Finished searching the bucket. This is what I got. 1 Rolls Pre '82 American Copper. 10 Rolls 1980 - 1996 Canadian Copper. 4 Rolls of Pre 1980 Canadian Copper. 13 Rolls of pennies after 1996. So a total face value of $19 and paid $15.79. With copper value $33.90! Also found a loonie in the bucket so $34.90
Getting back into roll hunting after a somewhat Hiatus. Out of 1 box plus 18 rolls I found 10 rolls of pre 82 nickels. Found a couple of Georges and pre 64.
