Hi folks, I have a question for the ancient collectors out there. How do you stay abreast of developments in ancient numismatics? Are there any good sources to hear about new hoards that have been discovered? Any good journals you read to stay informed?
The only way to keep abreast of current scholarship in any field is to read the academic journals, in every language: American Journal of Numismatics, Numismatic Chronicle, Revue Numismatique, Zeitschrift fur Numismatiche, and others. For new hoards, it's important to develop an intimate relationship with dealers, since they're often the ones who first see the hoards. But that's more than any of us really need. The best thing you can do is have a good relationship with a well connected dealer.
Im not even a member of the ANA, love their magazine but I dont think I would use their other perks. I just read coin world and their ancient coverage is .
