Right now, I'm working on a type set, then an ike set, so I will say that my favorite series is US:yes:

I like collecting (US) type coins, as opposed to one series, and have been trying to focus on 19th C copper and nickel issues. I find them visually and historically interesting (and a few are unusual, which I like), and setting these parameters allows me to avoid the expense of 18th C coins as well as that of silver and gold (as well as some designs I don't like).

I wonder if you let this thread and the least favorite series thread run for a couple of weeks and then compare the numbers of votes each series gets, if they'll be similiar. i.e. Just as many people hate any particular series as like them. (With the obvious exception of SBA's)

Agreed, but personally, I think SBA's get a bad rap.

  13. The toning does not help that SBA. Lipstick on a pig. Makes some of the first spouses look hot.

In my short coin collecting career I have grown fond of Mercury Dimes, Jefferson Nickels and Buffalo Nickels. At first I thought Jefferson Nickels were boring but now I think they are a pretty nice coin.

An acid bath wouldn't help an SBA.

This is a tough one...I like a lot of series. However, my favorite is gonna be the Matte Proof Lincoln Cents of 1909-1916. For me, they are HIGHLY underrated for their rarity. Others are probably gonna be the Indian Cents, Mercury Dimes, Morgan Dollars, Gold, Seated Coinage, and earlier Coinage, like the Flowing Hair Dollars, and Draped Bust Coinage.

Although I have never owned one, I love the $10 Gold Indians.

Next in line would be the Indians of the incuse design...now I have owned a few of those :D

It is no worse than the Seated Liberty design, and I like the reverse, same as the IKE.

FWIW, the gold makes the first spouses look hot.

  20. You are right about that. However, even gold is not going to help the Eleanor Roosevelt spouse coin. TC
