robec, you have been posting some great pics lately! (or maybe always, but I just started noticing). I'm trying to reshoot some of mine:
Just got the 1970D 40% silver. It is one of the hardest Kennedys to find, and potentially one of the most uncommon, due to low mintage, and limited to mint sets. Pictures aren't great, but when it arrives, I shall shoot better ones of it in its mint bag.
I have noticed when I shoot some Kennedy's (no pun intended) the luster on the gems give the illusion he is wearing a Lone Ranger mask. edit: What do you think? Does this 66 have a shot at MS66? I feel it does.

If your 1966 didn't have the hit(s) below the tail feathers on the reverse, I might agree with you but I think you will be lucky to get a MS66 grade.
Hits? I didn't see any hits under the tail feathers. I thought it was toning, as the coin has some edge tone on both sides.
