lol. This is the reason I have Mrbrklyn on ignore! I just cannot understand why anyone would post an 11mb png image. *sigh

I don't want to hear "there is a loss of image quality if you make it a web-friendly jpg image". That is simply ridiculous.

As a photographer the picture is really cool

    PNG

The PNG (Portable Network Graphics) file format was created as the free, open-source successor to the GIF. The PNG file format supports truecolor (16 million colors) while the GIF supports only 256 colors. The PNG file excels when the image has large, uniformly colored areas. The lossless PNG format is best suited for editing pictures, and the lossy formats, like JPG, are best for the final distribution of photographic images, because in this case JPG files are usually smaller than PNG files. The Adam7-interlacing allows an early preview, even when only a small percentage of the image data has been transmitted.

PNG provides a patent-free replacement for GIF and can also replace many common uses of TIFF. Indexed-color, grayscale, and truecolor images are supported, plus an optional alpha channel.

PNG is designed to work well in online viewing applications like web browsers so it is fully streamable with a progressive display option. PNG is robust, providing both full file integrity checking and simple detection of common transmission errors. Also, PNG can store gamma and chromaticity data for improved color matching on heterogeneous platforms.

Some programs do not handle PNG gamma correctly, which can cause the images to be saved or displayed darker than they should be.[2]

Animated formats derived from PNG are MNG and APNG. The latter is supported by Mozilla Firefox and Opera and is backwards compatible with PNG.

Also when you step on an image more than a few times the JPG visibly starts to dither.

If your not sure of the technical facts of something, you can look it up.

But Ruben, so many more people would probably appreciate your photos if the were linked to your website or a photobucket type. Not everyone is on a high speed internet connection, and as portable devices increase strongly, fewer will opt to view your images. It also is not a polite thing to do with the site here, as it increases storage and when accessed slows down the servers. Maybe tiny amounts, but still somewhat. I think even those of us who love your high detailed photos would prefer the choice :)

And no, it isn't just you, there are plenty of people who think if they enlarge their blurry photos toextremes, that others can tell if it is a VARIETY. Consider it. Thanks

I rarely put such an image on line, but i just thought that the detail and clarity of this one deserved the exposure rather than remain in my archive.

I generally archive photos in PNG format and then post jpgs.

BTW - I agree. If the image is blurry then making it larger just makes it large and blurry.

Look, I can not make everyone happy. I can't even make myself happy, and then we all die, usually in pain.

Ruben, I agree, no one can make anyone happy, all we can do is provide the surroundings that might enable them to make themselves happy. Johnny Appleseed couldn't grow apples on himself, he just planted the seeds for them :) All we can do is plant the seeds of knowledge and happiness [/end of new age psychology]

Yes - I meant to add that. We can only try to leave some good deads behind and i hope I contribute something positive, in this case to the cointalk readership.

It was not easy to get. I killed one and then Chris had to send me another one from The Netherlands. Some of these foriegn cins are hard to get in the states. There is a coin shop called powercoins or some such in italy and they have a lot of good coins and they are not set up for US sales.

I am assuming it was intended to be "deeds", although some on the board may occasionally have your word in mind. :)
