some buffalo help please

Hey everyone, i need some help with this buffalo. From what i can tell it looks like a d/d but i know there is a d/s variety also. Does anyone think this could grade 66 also the scratch on obverse is from case by the way.

Very well could be, but you would need a close up of it for someone to tell.

 

Well, that is how ONE of the D/S looks like. They do not all look like that. At one time there was thought to be 6 different Die varieties with the D/S, But there is some controversy over two of them. What you have is the OMM #2 variety.

What the OP has is anybody's guess at this point. We would need to see some better photo's

Either way, that is one lustrous beauty you have there! Nice find...I would consider sending it in to get slabbed either way.

 

Good point - my book mentions up to 6 minor varieties and shows some a different variety. Found this link which shows some varieties.
