1918 $1000 FRN in Unc 64 Hey folks, I came across this beauty on eBay. My red book has a 63 grade listed at $45,000 for the 1133L - these values are from 2010. The seller wants $100k... I'm not sure if I would purchase it. But what would be a fair price to pay for this bill? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1000-1914-SAN-FRANCISCO-ULTRA-GEM-PERFECTION-FINEST-KNOWN-FINEST-GRADED-/251082650308 Thanks!
I think he is asking too much though he is a well know currency dealer. He is claiming that the note is a 67 but if that was the case, don't you think he would have re-submitted it? While it is a nice note, I would pass.
There is an AU55 example that will be available in the near future, I would think about that one. http://currency.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=3520&lotIdNo=35016#Photo
I'm guessing $35,000 - $50,000. Hard to say with a note like that. It could go for moon money, it's a nice note.
That's true. The note is nice and you don't see many of them for sale. Wish I had that kind of expendable cash for high-grade horseblanket notes!
The eBay auction actually has the note mislabeled as a 1914 bill. It's actually a 1918. I thought something was weird at first. I agree with y'all that if it was a 67 that was under-graded, they would have certainly sent it back. The difference in value between a 67 and 64 grade for this kind of note would be very significant.
Only 2 64 grade 1914 $1000 bills have sold at Heritage, one for $54k, last one for $97k, so his asking price is not unreasonable.... These notes sells for high dollar no matter what condition they are in.
