theres a few banks in my area and id like to o to them and pick up say any loose halves and CWR from them. do some banks require you have an account there. i was thinkin of just payin cash for the rolls. i wasn't plannin om orderin boxes or anything. is this a ood idea
Most of the time if it's just a few rolls and loose coins they have they won't ask me if I have an account there, but a small handful do. Just yesterday I picked up $6 in loose halves from a Bank of America and I got 3 1964's and a 1967! I even have several banks that order me boxes each week that I don't have accounts with, but don't expect that
not much more to say. you walk in and ask if they have any halves. they respond one of three ways. 1 - yes - (you buy them) 2 - no - (you say have a nice day) 3 do you have an account with us? (you say no, have a nice day. )
1-Most tellers assume you have an account there, or else you wouldn't be going there. So they don't ask. Those tellers are good for you. 2-Some tellers ask about an account, I'm always honest. Sometimes they say they have to ask their supervisor, or say they can't sell coin, or say there's a fee, etc. For me, about half of the time even with this circumstance, they sell me halves. This is because many tellers hate having to count down their halves and weird coins/bills in their drawer every night. If a number of folks go in asking for halves, your chances are much slimmer. 3-Then of course, if you have an account at a few banks, you're good there.
