OMG, those first 2 were so funny I also spit my lunch out!! LOVE IT.

and at least they were funny! My last conversation went like this....

Wife: So how many rooms are you going to put coins in?
Me: Only the ones I pay the mortgage on.
    Wife: ......

yup.....doghouse. Guess I'll keep my coins there.

Unfortunately my first wife was similar. I got to the point I had coins delivered to work. I once kept a group of 120 Byzantine coins there for almost a year for fear of what she would say.

I guess there is more than one reason she was my FIRST wife. ;)

i don't have a wife yet, but conversations with the fiancée usually go like this...

me: i got a new coin.
    her: how old is it?
    me: (insert age of coin)
her: cool! now, when are you going to buy me a 1916-d mercury dime?

I got my wife to start collecting the national parks quarters. She is learning more about coins and likes it when coins are delivered now.

there's no "d" in my name...

as long as the rent and bills get paid, and we have food to eat, she doesn't care what i spend on coins. that, and i have to get her a mercury dime every once in a while. ;)

My ex-wife gave me an ultimatum, her or my coins.

I stopped missing her years ago.

Ok here's one between myself and my wife while we were both sorting through some nickel rolls with the kids and she was earlier on in the hobby. We had date charts with places to sort nickels and pennies by date and mint mark, and there were stars on dates that had interesting things to look for. We had gone through about 10 rolls when she asked:

Her: I'm thirsty. Can you get me a glass of iced tea?

Me: Sure, just sort them on the date chart while I'm gone.

(Run and get an iced tea from the kitchen, couldn't be more than 4 minutes.)

    Me: Here ya go.

Her: Thanks! (A bemused, satisfied grin appeared on her face as she continued casually.) I -uh- couldn't find where to put these on the chart.

Me: What do you mean? Just put them on their dates like I showed you.

Her: (Grin increasing.) Well, there's no place for them. These two don't have dates, and these two are off the chart.

(She plunked down four Buffalo nickels. Two dateless, one Fine, the other XF. :) )

Me: Have I told you I love you today?

    Her: My first buffalos! Squee!

They were all in the the same roll. :)

When I buy gold coin my wife goes like - why you need the gold?
Next day she asks if I can present her a gold ring.

She is happy when I buy something for resale and make 400-500%. But she is not happy when all the proceeds go back to coins.

My 2 year old daughter more into coins than my wife. ))

Not married but my newest ex-girlfriend was actually into coins. Got me my 20 center for Christmas. Things fell apart though (looking back its quite fortunate) but she still pulls wheats/silver for me from circulation.

My new girlfriend shows passive interest. When she went with me to put some stuff in the SD box she had her mind blown by how much stuff is in there. She mostly likes the old/pretty stuff. Her dad collects like a mad-man though. Unfortunately he buys from Littleton.

My story is kinda similiar but with a more tragic outcome. lol

I had a job near Santa Anita racetrack and every afternoon after work hit the last race. Parking and entry was free, so I used my lunch money to make bets. I got on a streak and had several winning tickets on MY nightstand. Worth about a grand or so cashed in.

My wife said she was going to clean so to pick my stuff up. Even asked me about those tickets. I told her those tickets were fine right where they were.. (It was MY nightstand and we were still newlyweds).

That Saturday morning I asked her where my tickets were because I wanted to take her to the track and dinner afterwards. I learned she trashed them !

That hurt ! But it sure established the ground rules. She can have the house to do whatever she wants with, but MY stuff stays where I CAN find it !

I have to say this is one of the most entertaining threads I've seen in a while. I'm curious if any coin-collecting wives have similar experiences with their husbands. ;D
