I like using email alerts to get to threads. But I have to post

Don't think that posting is required. Have a look at the "thread tools" ...

    Spain 5 Peseta
    Date: 1893 PG-L
    Mintage: 2,500,000
37 mm diameter 25 gm Silver
    0.7235 oz ASW
The size of a US silver dollar

Alfonso XIII is depicted on this large coin. His father died before he was born. Therefore, Alfonso XIII became king of Spain the instant he was born. As I recall, his mother acted as regent until he was something like 13 years old. During that time, his mother issued coins with her son's likeness. The coins before this one show Alfonso XIII as a baby. The coins after this one depict him as a little boy & then young man, etc.

A toned 1917 farthing! (sorry if the picture of the obverse doesn`t show much toning but it has plenty in hand)
I recently bought a few things off a friend at a sale, he had bags of British pre decimal coins Farthing-Crown, so he gave me one of the bags as a "luck penny"??
My dad said luck penny was something they used to give for free at the mart "back in the day" to seal the transaction nicely.
Anyways I love the farthing, it will take the space for a 1917 farthing in mai album easily :D

The 1000 lire coin is interesting also because it uses a wrong map. :) In the initial (1997) version, the one that you posted, they merged the Netherlands and the "old states" of Germany while Germany's "new states" seem to be a different country as in the pre-1990 years. The 1998 version fixed that. - The 500 lire piece is great indeed, especially when considering that this was actually a circulation coin for many years.
