Hello, According to the US Paper Money Red Book, 1988B 100 Dollar Bills (F2172-B) are worth $450 in UNC condition. This is worth more than any of the stars for this year's denomination, and there were a ton of them printed (448M). I'm stumped, and was wondering if anyone may know why its worth so much?
It was the only $100 Star note for the series, and the amount printed is 4.48 million. Probably not a whole lot of survivors is my only guess.
Just to clarify, this bill valued at $450 is *not* a star note. The star note for this district is actually worth less than this non-star note.
I have the same book, and it looks like a "typo". Two other pricing guides I own show the Fr.2172-B worth $160 in CH-CU and the Fr.2172-B* (star) to be the note worth $450 in CH-CU.
Ok, that was my hunch. Let me know if you know anyone who wants the non-star version for $300 even -- special deal, just for them
Aww I have a real high grade 1988 $100 B-C and you had me going there thinking that mine could be valuable. My first thought was possibly that all the '88s were just shredded right away for the '90 series to come out. Oh well, maybe next time.
I work retail and just found axcellent condition 1988 $100 bill in my register. I will be "buying" it on payday, but only if it is worth something. I did not take a picture of it to note whether or not it had a star, but the back plate number was 114. Know anything about it?
Would need a photo of the front and back, and/or at the least, the exact series 1988 or 1988A, and the complete serial number with all the numbers and letters.
In all likelihood it is Series 1988 as $100 1988A notes weren't printed due to the development and release of the more secure Series 1990 notes. Same thing with the fifties of the era.
I have this star note. Any idea how I'd go about selling it, and a ballpark estimate of how much it's worth?
I found A 1988 B note New York New York $100 bill # B01055058 * star note anyone know if it is worth anything?

hi,,,,,well,,? there are a lot of comments ,,,, still not clear about the answer to the question I have a $100 bill,,,,, with Thiessen-Crow signature,,,, serial #AJU0702334,,,, with Clear B.P.N.,,,,, with the year 1988,,,,, and in good condition what could be the value of that?
Welcome to CT @72chey/m Wow, where should I start...... Thiessen-Crow is not a combination of signatures I have ever heard of, either together or separate. The serial number #AJU0702334 is not used on United States currency, and I'm not certain what you are referencing when you mention "Clear B.P.N.". Other than that, it's worth $100. Maybe you can post a photo.
Based on the serial number format and the 1988 date, I think it's Canadian. Unfortunately I don't know much about Canadian currency and don't have a book to look up the value in. Anybody?
hi,,,,,,, sorry I did not make it known that it is a Canadian $100 dollar bill - the description of it is,,,,,,, - Thiessen-Crow signature,,,, serial #AJU0702334,,,, with Clear B.P.N.,,,,, with the year 1988,,,,, and in good condition - and I have 50 of them,,,,
