Lyds isn't encouraging Detecto in the serious sense, but in a more condescending manor attempting to teach Detecto. At least that's how I interpreted his post.
Detecto, why do they waffle coins? Is it because they are perfect coins or because there is an error to them and they want to destroy them? Sounds like an ERROR coin to me. Certainly not something that sounds illegal to write up about, let alone to send a Legal letter such as that.
There in lies the problem. You feel the need to threaten people and companies over trivial things such as the term "error" on a coin that is an error. And btw the BBB that you'd be afraid of, IMO is one of those companies that your are speaking about. From my dealings with them they are about first about getting members to pay to get in the company's directory and secondly about keeping a proper rating of company's.
I"m with you there. Family members had told me about some of their purchases there and almost always I recommend to not purchase that again.
Actually, I'd like to see Detecto to follow thorugh with his threat. I WANT him to follow through! I ENCOURAGE him to follow through. And then I want him to report back the results.
Ambassador to the coin collection [collecting] hobby? If these guys start believing you enjoy pain they're going to charge you for their replies.
Too late, I just joined a Stamp Collecting forum. I was asking how stamp collectors ship their stamps to get graded? I had to use all my available stamps on the actual package to send off to the TPG, so now I don't have any stamps to get graded. I'm so confused!
That's ok. Switching hobbies is easy. Just stop posting to that new forum, and don't do anything that takes stamps on the package for the next year. You'll recoup your money lost on postage by not spending any for a year.
Are you kidding me??? The mere fact you were surfing the Franklin Mint's website -- and you admit it in writing -- says you're no ambassador! Perhaps court jester would be a more befitting title. LOL, in any event, the Whine and Cheeze forum can be found here.
But are they not errors that were caught by the machines and canceled? (sorry if this has been said, I only read the first page so far)
The way the advertisement is set up, makes one think that the waffled coin itself is an error. So what if the slab says "mint canceled". Mint cancelled means the coin was waffled. But a newbie would take that as the mint rejected the coin, it was not fit for circulation. They make it sound like the coin was minted just like that.
