Half Dollar Accepting Coin Slot. Please help me find it.

    Guys,

About a half a year ago, or so, I was looking on Google for possible vending machines that will accept halves, and I found an eBay ad to the side of my search, with one of those coin slots, where you either put in two quarters or one half on top of it, inside its disignated circle, and then shove the slot in and pull it back out. I clicked into it once, that one time, and since then, I've tried many searches on eBay to find these coin mechanisms, because I feel, if I can get a few certain machines to accept halves at my business, maybe it would spark some interest in that particular denomination. These half acceptors were the type where you set the coin(s) flat in the circle made for such coins and then push it in and pull it out, and you get your item(s).

Can someone please tell me what these are called, or maybe give me an eBay search link to a few of them, so that I might purchase a few of them, and get the type of machines they may go with?

Thank You in advance for any help. :)

Why is it so important that you mock me every time I bring this issue up, to help my goals? I am sure you have your own goals and wants, and if you, and ole Coin Geezer do not like what I have to say, then all I can do is tell you not to read my posts, and you're on your own from there on in.

My goals, wants and needs are based in reality.
My question was legitimate, not mocking.
You have never told us why this is so important to you.
I'm trying to understand your all-consuming interest in this.
So, please tell us, why is this so important to you?

I would just assume he really likes half dollars and would like to see them circulate more. Nothing wrong with that. I don't think he will have much luck with his goal but I don't see any reason why he shouldn't try if he wants to.

I didn't say anything about your post, so get your facts straight.
I would be interested in knowing why you are obsessed with this however.
When you post to a public forum, you have to expect a wide variety of responses and reactions.
In other words, if you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen!

No but you did "like" rickmp's comment that he was responding to. That could be taken as an approval of his opinion.

I didn't criticize good old Drago but I DO wonder about his obsession.

So you and Coin Geezer want to know WHY I want both, the $2 bill, and the half dollar coin to circulate? Okay then. This is going to sound weird, and maybe even, stupid, but, I am tired of the same old denominations that circulate, and want to see a few new denominations circulate. This is also one of my ideas behind the $200, $500, and $1,000 bill. Not just conveinence, but just something new to spend and collect. Seeing people's reaction to odd denominations is fun too, however, I am aware that, if $2 bills and halves started circulating regularly again, they would not be "odd money" and would be treated just like any other denomination would. But I would still like the idea of a widely circulating $2 bill and half for decades to come, just for something different. I would like the dollar coin the same, if we didn't have a $1 bill, and they actually circulated, however, I have a low interest in the dollar coin's circulation, because, while it would help the $2 bill's circulation, it would further kill the half's circulation, because there would be no spot in cash registers for them, even it five slots, unless we also scrapped the cent, but, like thats going to happen. So what I would really like to see is, a redesigned $1 and $2 bill, a widely circulating $2 bill and not nessacarily redesigned, but widely circulating half, and new $200, $500, and $1,000 bills.

So, its a matter of not only convenience, but a matter of wanting to see something different as well.

I hope this answers BOTH of you guys (Coin Geezer & Rickmp's) questions.

Well Drago, if it makes you feel any better I put 10 $2 bills into circulation every month. :D

Why, thank you Coin Geezer. Every little bit helps, and I'm glad a few people here use $2 bills. But since you are the "Coin" Geezer, you should be using halves as well. After all, you are not "The Bill Geezer" or "The Note Geezer" (Just joking with you) :D

What do you spend these $2 bills on? Just curious.

I also put many $2 notes, 50 cent and $1 coins into circulation on a regular basis. While doing this, I enjoy the many different reactions. I also realize that these items are not really going into circulation, but will immediately be removed from circulation simply due to the fact that some people have never seen them and think they've just made a score on a rare and valuable item. I do this for fun and not with any expectation of changing the worlds monetary desires.

There are over 300 million people in this country. I have no delusions that I, and I alone, will ever change their thinking. Sometimes you just have to roll with the status quo.

I, and many others here, believe that you are on a sisyphean quest to change the world, and that you are spending entirely too much time, energy and money in your endeavor, time energy and money that might be better spent on more important issues.

I personally believe that someone with an obsession such as yours may be suffering from some sort of mental health issue and should seek professional intervention.

It's tough getting half dollars at my bank and I don't like carrying change around anyway.
I spend the deuces on small purchases around my town. The younger cashiers sometimes don't believe they are real money or think they are too rare to spend.

    That comment was uncalled for.
My take is that Drago is young, a bit naive and idealistic.
Nothing wrong with that, we were all young once.
My obsession causes me to spend big bucks on small pieces of stamped metal! :D

Thank you for sticking up for me, Coin Geezer. Yes, I would say I may be fairly younger than most of you. I am 31 years old, (but I'm already going bald like crazy :D ) I was always guessing that, with this being a coin collector's forum that most of you would be "geezers" and I don't mean that in a bad way, because I also bet most, if not all of you on these boards are smarter than me.

Coin Geezer, I take it, you are fairly old? (Why else would you call yourself a geezer? ;) )

  20. And I personally believe someone like you who has to constantly beat down people on this forum has mental issues. Maybe you are the one who needs the help? Most people have a name for you. It's called a bully.

It happens, I went bald in my early 20's.

    Let's just say more experienced.
