I must have made 20 calls today. No one has any halves.

I'll have to rethink the bank run idea.

 

Today I found $200 in BWR of Halves at two different banks.

The chanting and sacrificing of the coin wrappers did not work for me either. I've still been skunking out on anything I search. I'm buying approx 137.5 lbs of coin this weekend. I'm really shooting for minimum 1 oz. This month I have had to search about $2617 to find each ounce of silver.

5 cwr of halves... one 40%, 3 bwr quarters... nothing. One is better than none. Also pick up one ike and 15 ikes a couple days ago.

 

Ah, my week long skunkfest has ended! I got less than half way through my $500 bag of dimes over lunch and picked out '64 and '52 roosies. I also found a number of '68 canadians. I was pretty sure I could tell from their sound they were not silver, and sure enough they stuck to my magnet at the office. Hopefully I'll hit the jackpot later tonight! I have to finish the bag so that I can cash it in and pick up my Saturday bag from branch #3 - they didn't fill a bag this week, but can sell me the partial - $450 or so.

My average on bags is 2.25, with only one skunk.

 

Another 4 boxes this week

Box 1 - 1987 50 escudos (portugal), 2 x 40%
Box 2 - 1x'64
Box 3 - skunk
Box 4 - 2x40% and both were enders.

I swear that everytime I have boxes that have an ender, or in this case 2, there are no more silver coins in the box. That happens probably 90% of the time for me.

I won't complain because 2 is better than 0 but my high hopes always crash and burn

 

I wish I could do half dollars, but I don't have a source or a dump location for any real quantity of them. I need to be more aggressive asking for loose and cwr half dollars.

 

Searched through a boatload of halves today, a whooping 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well at least one was a '67

 

Soooo, been having a kinda meh week for silver, then I found this in a box of dimes (sorry if huge lol):


Picture quality is bad but that's an 1899 Barber. I nearly missed it because I was edge searching, makes me wonder if I've ever missed a barber that way.

Also got 5 40%ers in a box of halves today. Maybe this week is turning around! Still have a box of nickels and dimes to go through.

 

went bank hopping today, got $300 BWR from my silver mine branch, and ended up with 9 40%ers! got about $600 mixed CWR/BWR from other banks, skunk. I've gotten silver from my "silver mine" branch 8 times out of 9 now!

so I've gotten 19 40%ers out of $800, I guess that makes up for the 11 skunk boxes I had in a row.

 

Yeah I know what you mean about the enders. Always used to mean a great box till recently. I had one last week and it was the only one in the box. Seems like a few people on here recently have experienced similar situation. Hopefully it'll change back. ha

 

WOO! I'm on fire! just did 2 boxes of dimes and got 9 rosies, one was a AU/BU 64-D.

And I got my first dime roll with 2 rosies in it

 

Had a good day. Did a bank run, it didn't turn up much, did get 5 40%'ers and a '64, though, as well as three silver roosies from a teller. Grabbed about $75 in Ikes, and there was an XF '72 T2 in the bunch. That makes nine T2's now, IIRC.

Also did three boxes of halves, which gave up as follows;

Box one; 1 40%'er.
Box two; 5 40%'ers.
Box three; 70 40%'ers, and 1 '64. 8 enders, not including one double ender. Not my best box ever, but dang close.

Can you guys take a look at the photos, and let me know if you think the 1979 is a type I or II? The interesting thing is that the 2 proof nickels were in the same roll. Talk about short term statistical aberrations!

Couple that with the 1905 V Nickel from yesterday, and I had a pretty good couple of boxes.

 

Looks like a type 2 to me, the type 1 has more of a filled in S, but yours looks very clear. and it has amazing cameo too, I'm jealous.

 

Jeez merc, that is a crazy score. Just when I think I have an awesome day, Merc comes and upstages all of us!

 

Some of you folks are in areas where people are clearly cashing in. A few of you have had multiple scores that smoke my best ever find. Merc - thanks for posting where the silver was - I always think about doing that and never end up doing it
