From the pictures at least... I don't see a 6.

gecko, don't rule it out yet..

There are more die markers to look at. Please go HERE

This should answer all of your questions. Sometimes pictures really are not worth a thousand words.. On a coin this worn, this could be one of those times.. please let us know what you think after you look at the website.. Its an EXCELLENT resource for searchers of this coin.. and yes, they have been found just like your story..

Good idea giving him more info on the markers, but I highly doubt it will help on this coin.. I see nothing that gives hesitation in calling it a 17. Hair, robe (both bottom and under arm), shield.. all say 17.

I mentioned in your other thread (before seeing the photos) the possibility that this was an altered 17 that was discovered and junked. I do not see a six, but yes.. if one was added, that is the reason.

I agree with the others. The die markers present indicate the coin is a 1917. Sorry for the bad news...but it is still a fun find.

I'd need better pictures to judge this, especially of the head region.

    This is 1916

I can't see any of the die markers on that site on this coin, or any others that I know. The Dutchman mentioned the fold. I never heard of that. The head is not clearly 2 or 1 spikes. I cant really determine where the head lays on the Pearls. The Shield details are fried. The star pattern is worn off. The ribbons position on the wall is indiscernible. Honestly, on this photograph I can't even see the 6/7. You guys are seeing something I'm missing. I wish your put a red circle on it.

I agree it is not a 1916. Here is a link to an ANACS F2 1916 for comparison. The toes on Liberty's left foot (right facing) are inconsistant with the coin pictured above and the "smile" at the bottom of her right side drapery (left facing) is the wrong shape.

Actually I have found quite the opposite. I have had many dealings with them both buying and selling this year. Nothing but professional service and very competitive pricing. Not sure where you are getting that one Ruben.

The 1916 shield doesn't usually have such good detail in the top right compared to the 1917s based on the ones I've looked at.

The charged me 9.5 tax and then taxed shipping, thereby creating a about 12% in hidden fees, Mind you and invest silver is not taxable, even in NYC, sales tax is 8.25%, and shipping is never taxable.

And they didn't do it just me. i will never ever deal with them again.

See the rivets on the shield? No way that's a '16. Sorry dude.

Not their fault you didn't understand all the terms and conditions before ordering.

I'm not doubting you but it is beyond my ability to see it. i just don't see, even side by side a difference in the smile or the toe. without a direct comparion, there is no way i see that.
