1956d penny copper

    how thick is the copper in a 1956d penny. looks like most of the copper is flaked off the coin.

    would that make the copper looked chipped along the edges?

    looks either acid, or maybe at one time it was silver plated and its coming off.

    ok thanks. its not silver plated the copper is on top, i guess its zinc

    You have a copper penny that's been plated. Not a zinc penny. Zinc pennys weren't around for a few decades.
