i just opened a ebay account after i told myself i wouldnt. one of the items i put up is this toned SBA. my question is about returns on toned coins. do people decide a lot that they dont like the coin colors after getting in hand? i tried to do the best i could( it is actually more vivid in hand) in capturing the toning. the blue is deeper than i can get on "film".
Maybe... but because of ebay policy he might as well accept returns, especially since doing so will open the coin up to more potential buyers. Many will not bid/buy unless a return is accepted.
i will except returns from fellow members. please dont laugh at me for the buy it now price; toning is so subjective that i have no clue what it will go for. and i am sending the dime and nickle with it. Auctions/Sells/etc. can only be in the appropriate advertising subforums. Also to oithers, soliciting to buy/sell/trade is also not allowed in the general posting area.
I'm not sure if that was meant to be sarcastic, but (if it was), I definitely agree with him. Be wary of many "potential" buyers looking to rip off new sellers. Always check their feedback scores first before sending the coin to them. Especially with nice toners like that one!
Sorry Riff, I feel like I set you up. It wasn't intentional, please don't send your goons to break my thumbs.
Easy enough to find the auction. Not a big deal. Glad you mentioned about sending the nickel and dime with it. I was wondering why you had pictures of the nickel and dime..... Toning really is subjective. But I'm wondering why you even bothered to bust the proof set out......??
Not true. Sellers can state No Returns until the cows come home. At the end of the day, if a buyer files a SNAD claim, eBay/PayPal's buyer protection overrules the sellers No Return policy.
i didnt know what i was doing, and i saw a really neat coin in tne proof set that i just HAD to pull out and get a better look at. lesson learned. i have healed. i still have the whole set though. the only one not really toned is the kennedy and it is starting to turn blue.
100% correct. eBay forces sellers to accept returns whether they like it or not with their Buyer Protection policy. Of course you can't find that stated anywhere on eBay's site, but the net result is that 99.99% of the time they will side with the buyer.
You may as well accept returns anyway. I have never returned a coin nor had one of mine returned, although I do not buy or sell toned coins. If the coin is returned, I think ebay will refund the fee and you will be out shipping costs but I think most people buying coins on eBay want to buy the coin right the first time and don't want to deal with returning it. Good text descriptions help too.
Raw toned coins will always get scrutinized on ebay. Offering returns on your coins might net you more bidders. Also I would suggest that if you're going to be offering members here special privileges on return you should sell it here instead of ebay.
