My personal opinion on these? Well, this is a family forum and I'm not at liberty to express my true feelings.
It's not you Jello... it's every "error" coin that has to be magnified 20X to see a tiny imperfection. In my opinion, these are not true errors, and no one can convince me they are.
I won't try, because they're varieties. To each his own, some people find these interesting no matter how slight the doubling may be. Thanks for the post Jello.
Yep, that's what they are. I was reading Jello's title and not paying attention. Either way, ridiculous I say... and I find them very uninteresting. But as you say d.t., to each his own.
One thing you have to say.. Mr Wexler sure does have good eyes.. : ) and he takes great pictures. : )
You sure are right about that and may I add that when it comes to coins John probably knows more about coins than anyone that I know. One of my favorite coins is a awesome foreign doubled die coin that John authenticated for me over 30 years ago . I believe it may have more doubling or at least as good our US 55 cent because more details are doubled. I think he put a photo of this coin in the error variety news magazine but I never got a copy of the magazine. I believe this was back in 1982 or 83.
Here a few that are on www.coppercoins.com:thumb: http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/dietype.php?date=2009&die_mint=d&die_type=dr&page=0

The last time I remember the price of this error 1942/1 when I receive a magazine catalog from J.Parino and it is worth only $ 100,000.00 that was I think a decade ago.. After Ten years now worth a MILLION BUCKS? is that for real Jello ? 100k every year to ADD up... Keep going going going up?
I think there may be a misunderstanding about the 1942 over 1941 dime pricing. You can get a really nice one below mint state for less than $1,000. The recent greysheet shows MS60 at $2,200 and MS63 at $3,750. In MS66 with full bands the greysheet lists about $30,000. This is just FYI. Here's mine.
Wexler has add a few New Die Variety 3/15/2013 1c-50c ck out his site Doubled dies.com for coins die he added
