1982 D Quarter die error?

    The entire obverse is doubled it is really hard to get a good photo of this coin.

    Its machine doubled I'm sure. They can be quite tricky sometimes

    Just looks like a bad case of die erosion. The coin was struck with heavily worn dies and circulated a bit. Add the two factors together, and you get a coin that shows signs of obscured design elements, possibly (and in this case) being mistaken for a mint error.

    I have a 1982 quarter that was stamped with a 3 over the 2
