I would say XF due to the gouge on Liberty's forehead, the marks on her neck, and the gouge on the eagle's wing reverse side, and the small amount of luster that appears to be present as well. It wouldn't surprise me if this was body bagged as damaged, or details with no grade from a TPG.
No I would not. I would agree the coin has low AU details, but it has several problems. Altered surfaces, possible graffiti, and plain old damage.
Thank you sir, Appriciate your feedback I know it has many problems but i´m giving the US scale some time of the day so i´m not that far of for a first timer
Yeah, that gouge above the eye really hurts this coin overall amongst it's other problems pointed out.
id say from my experince it is a Xf45 -au 50 its a nice coin but on the obverse the hAir lines are warn , and on the rev the cent er of the chest ar worn but stil i may be off..
I think you're confusing the reverse of the Peace with that of a Morgan. The eagle on the reverse of a Peace is a profile, angled view showing only the right wing of the eagle and not it's chest like on the Morgan.
I don't think this is a problem coin and AU55 sounds about right to me. That mark is severe, but not something that should prevent it from being graded.
I would call it AU details...but it does have damage that I believe would prevent it from being graded. Also, 1921 Peace Dollars can be hard for the novice to grade because they have a notoriously poor strike.
You can't see where it looks like somebody tried to rub out that dark stain ? And you can't see that shield shaped design (that I have now circled) with what looks like an M carved in middle of it ?
You are dreaming, that is nothing. Certainly not graffiti. But hey, I am willing to put my money where my mouth is. Have the OP submit it and if it comes back in a details holder, I pay the grading fee. If it comes back graded, you pay the fee. How bout it?
Paul, as I have told you before - I am disabled, have been for several years now. I subsist of what SS pays me every month. So as much as I would like to take you up on that, I can't. But if you say you can't see it, go see an eye doctor.
Oh I see it, I just don't think someone tried to carve their family crest in the field of that coin. Hey Doug, check this one out, someone carved a big M in the left field Oh wait, those are just normal surface marks.
+1 And I don't give a big fat hairy rip if Lehigh says I'm brown nosing either, but that's noticeable WITHOUT enlarging the photos.
