Lettow, that is an AMAZING MPC you were able to get. The higher denomonations are generally rarer to find and more expensive.
In today's mail I received another error note — Series 1977 A Federal Reserve Note with the overprint on the back.
I so wanted to go but could not attend! And as for the note that's very nice. I don't have that note yet let alone that grade. :thumb: Whom did you get this one from?
There is something between the "STATES" and "OF" on the back. It isn't a fold or crease. It looks like an small embossed line extending about 1 to 1.5 cm into the note. I'm how much it would lower the grade. I'd give it at least a Choice New grade.
Went to Mexico last week on a business trip. Person asked if I wanted US or Mexican for change. I said Mexican, lol. Anyhow, got these $20 Peso, 2008 bill. I added a US Note for comparison.
I bought this at a local auction this past Saturday. I live in the Chicago area and never purchased a 1929 Federal Reserve Note from my own branch. I paid two and one half times face with the buyers premium included.
In today's mail I received a couple of nice $50 FRNs. I also received a nice $2 FRN First Day of Issue with a postmark from Washington, DC Treasury Station.

Absolutely, I always enjoy seeing your newest acquisitions! Those are gorgeous! It's always hard for me to wrap my head around the idea that for many, many years, our paper currency has been the dullest, from I'd say '28 - '04/'06 -- when we finally added color to our notes. If you don't mind me asking, what would you call yourself in the numismatic world? Do you sell any paper currency or are you just a collector? How long have you been collecting? I started roughly 3 years ago when my older brother put my first silver certificate $1 in my hand, I've just been fascinated with old paper money ever since. I think I specifically remember you having a site what was the URL again? -tbud
I disagree. I don't think that US notes got really dull, until the series 1996 notes were issued. I'm sorry, but those big heads w/out the color are the worst designed, most boring notes the US has ever issued. However, I do like the current colorized notes, as well as all issues of the small head notes. Especially the older series, issued from 1928-ish up until about the mid 1960's. At least then there were varying seal colors, more detail in the borders, etc. What I do agree on , though, is that Clay's 1 Bhat notes are gorgeous. Nice pick up's, Clay!
Currently, I collect notes. I've been collecting for only a few years, but I've put a serious amount of effort and time into it. My Web site is listed in my signature below.
In today's mail is a Series 1995 Federal Reserve Star Note with a courtesy autograph from Robert E. Rubin, Secretary of the Treasury: Also, a full district set of Series 1999 FRNs with a courtesy autograph from Lawrence H. Summers, Secretary of the Treasury:
I see you have Harvey's Money Store listed; what happened to him? For a while, 90% of my pre-mature collection was made of things I ordered off his site. You're the first person I've known to know him and his site. Last I heard from him, he was going into surgery.
I don't know, but thanks for pointing out that the link is no good. I did purchase notes from him in the past.
