I got this Akko 2 Shekel Commemorative coin from Israel and it is proof and very reflective. It's almost like a mirror. for a variety of reasons, I don't have the lighting control I had at one time. So I struggled taking pictures of this coin, taking a few dozen photos of which I've whittled down to these 6 examples of the Obverse. I'd like to know which one folks like best before i drop the images on my website. Pict 1 Pict 2 Pict 3 Pict 4 Pict 5 Ruben
Photo number 2 by 31 lengths. The reflection of the camera makes it look like the sun is setting over the building. Well done!
You can eliminate many of the reflections and interrupting color that appears in the reflections on the coin by using sheets of dark (black) paper at opposing angles, or by fitting a sheet of dark paper over your camera so only the lens peeks out when you are shooting highly reflective surfaces. This will help to show off the devices in the mirrored fields much more clearly, as the mirrored areas will become solid black, much like they appear in the small areas where your camera's body is now shown reflecting in the coins. Give it a try and let's see the results you come up with.
Thanks p have tried to do something counter intuitive and use very low light to photpgraph proofs like these. BTW - there are a few more threads with other photos of this collection
One of the things I was looking at was the bricks around the door in the middle of the arches. If you look at the last example, it has great detail in that area, and yet one seems to lose much of the depth on the rising wall on the left, which is an important design element. Anyway, I need help on the birds as well. Ruben
