Traveled out of town today. Went to around 20 banks and found somewhere around $150 worth of CWR and loose halves. Still no luck with the 90%ers but I did find 4 40%ers. I feel like I am having pretty good luck lately with the 40%ers. May have a chance to hit a few banks tomorrow while I am still out of town.

'50-S is the last date I need, pballer.

$80 bag of nickels, nothing. The ikes had nothing of note, just about a dozen keepers.

Bob is this a national bank that cut you off? Just curious, hoping it's not one that I use.

If I were you I would try to hit up about 20 banks or so in the area and just cold call asking for halves (loose & box). I don't know how many times when I've been out on loose half searches to banks that I do not have accounts with where they've said, "No we don't have any but we can order some, they come in $500 amounts." This happened quite a bit. But I turned all of them down b/c these banks were usually far out of my area, and I couldn't afford to increase my volume at the moment either. I'm sure you'll stumble on something, afterall you had a bank ordering for you for all this while anyway, there are probably others out there willing to help out.

    Weekly results:

    Quarters (61 rolls): Wash x1
Dimes (3 boxes and 120 rolls): Roosie x3
Nickels (2 boxes and 72 rolls): War x6, Buff x2
    Pennies (66 rolls): Wheat x26, Steel x1, 2000 WAM
    Halves (2 boxes and $23 loose): 90% x2, 40% x1
    And 1 loose Ike
    Reject tube finds: Roosie x6

This week would have been good in terms of variety (my 2nd 2000 WAM and 2 buffs!), but awful for silver, had I not gone on a mini-road trip to look for halves today. At the last bank the teller had 4 halves that were taped together, I could see the white edges on 2 of them so I quickly bought them up. It turns out that in with the 2 64s, there was a 40% as well. Total for this week was 2.0408 ozt. As long as I find at least 1 dime next week, I'll pass 30 ounces for the year so far.

    Foreign finds for this week: $1.40 CD, 5c Euro, 7p UK, 10c Panama, 50c NZ, 1s Israel, 1p Phillipines, 5c Mexico, 20y Japan, 5c Trinidad, 50c Venezuela, 1b Romana, 1k Norway, 20c Honduras, 5c Bahamas, 15c Bermuda, and 2 1/2fr Switzerland... and a brass/bronze Thomas Jefferson modern medal

I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes a common trend by banks. Especially with ordering half dollar boxes. The way banks are charging for every little thing now. If it does cost them money it will be eliminated at some point I would assume. Just a guess though. I'm going with merc's theory and search while I can.

I think it's really cool that we can have a little glance at the world right in the palms of our hands! Nice finds!

Today i went to my bank to get some nickels, they only had $16(i think i've cleaned them out over the past few weeks).Anyways I found a 1944-s war nickel and my very first proof,a 1989-s.Are Proofs in circulated condition worth anything?

Went into a bank today and asked if they had any cwr of dimes. He pulled out his box and they were all plastic wrapped ones. I said, "I'll take that roll right there" as I spotted a white edge in one of the rolls. It was a 63 silver Roosie. :)

I ended up buying a box of dimes, a box of nickels, $5 of 2012 D cents (first rolls that I've found), and 10 rolls of CWR nicks. I didn't get time to search them yet....I'll report later.

I also got a strap of one dollar notes. As I consider a lot of you friends on this thread and I do most of my posting here, I'll post a link to another thread for you to see the other project I've been working on. I'm very proud of it. :) Check it out if you have time http://www.cointalk.com/t205917/

I just posted a picture of my copper hoard on another thread, but thought it belongs here too, so more people can admire it :) All coins found in rolls, with exception of the uncirculated copper memorials in the ammo can, which is from my grandpa. ~255 pounds total so far.

I predicted this kind of thing would happen: http://www.cointalk.com/t10176-1354/#post1432021 It is quite likely due to obsessive roll searchers as can be seen in post #20252: http://www.cointalk.com/t10176-1351/#post1430249 People like this are the ones who ruin things for those who actually like searching coins as a hobby and in moderation. It's the people who abuse the system by ordering many boxes a week to mine silver as a career that will lead to the demise of buying boxes for everyone.

I think this was the post you were talking about, NOS. And it's not people like him that cause issues in this hobby, it's the fact that so many people are engaging in it now. When a bank is looking to cut costs and they see that they spend a few thousand dollars a week on ordering halves for hobbyists who don't have a lot of money in their accounts to justify the expense, that's an easy cut to make. They'll lose some deposits because of their unwillingness to handle coin, I'm sure, but it won't be enough to reverse the tide, I don't think.

By the way, I'm betting deebeetee here has at least mid 5 figures in his bank account, if not more. 40 boxes a week is kind of ridiculous.

    1 box of nickels- 1 2009-p
Are 2009 nickels worth keeping? 2009 Dimes? I find a lot more '09 dimes than nickels so ive been keeping the nickels but throwing back the dimes.

I keep any '09's I find besides the cents.

I also keep '09 nickels. In 28 boxes that I have searched, I have found only 9 2009. In comparison, I have found 29 War Nickels, that's crazy. A roll of 2009-P circulated nickels sold on eBay just this morning for $20!

Hmm, why are the 2009-D Jeffersons worth so much less than the 2009-P? They had basically the same mintage and yet a BWR of 2009-D sells for around $15, and a 2009-P BWR sells for over $30? Why is this?
