Interesting sometimes. This person got hammered! Avoid North Korean coins? http://www.pcgs.com/Membership/sharedorder.aspx?OrderNo=20585577
I'll admit that i've never sent anything to be certified and don't pay a whole lot of attention to it so these comments may be irrelevant - but how is something questionable and do they actually put it in a slab that says that? I would think as the TPG - you need to make a decision on whether it is, or it isn't and I would sure hope it wouldn't actually end up in a slab
I believe they always say "questionable " so as not to get the secret service involved - which might lead to seizure of the coins.
No, they could care less about the Secret Service. PCGS would fall over themselves for the opportunity to slab a '74 aluminum cent or a '33 Saint. Or any other coin that is illegal to own.
I don't think "questionables" get slabbed - but I do believe you still get charged. So someone got hosed. Twice.
http://www.pcgs.com/Membership/sharedorder.aspx?OrderNo=20599761 I actually did a second take on that one. The $3 coin is the important one.
Actually that's not entirely true... They do NOT slab the Martha Washington pattern dollars for just that very reason...
