Putting coins through a rock tumbler. It's a way to destroy coins, and a way to troll for attention on coin forums.

And another reason to not read your posts.

Today's "only worth a couple bucks" is tomorrow's expensive coins. They are still history. And you are still ruining them.

The 1804 half dollar used to be just a couple bucks too. Will you still feel that it was ok to ruin those when the prices climb and you look back.

Geez, can everyone stop picking on good old Detecto? It's really getting tiresome.

I completely agree. If you don't like someone, that's great, but you don't have to be such a jerk every time they do anything.

That's right. When you encounter someone or something you don't like or you disagree with, just keep quiet. That's the best way to act. Then you are always seen as someone with a positive outlook as well as someone with a good moral compass. You know the old adage: If you can't say something nice about someone then don't say anything at all.

As far as Decto goes, yes I'd rather read posts from BNB (former poster that caused lots of trouble) because he actually got real discussions going.

But this is about a person damaging coins. I don't care who it is I'd point out how that is bad in my opinion.

I care, alot of people care. We are just tempoary caretakers of these objects
They will be here long after we leave this world
If everyone had that attitude there wouldn't be anything original left. If want clean/cleaned objects buy something some other DA messed up already

Is there any law about damaging coins or tokens? No. There his coins so let him be...

    I agree.

Are his posts annoying? Yes, of course they are. But those pieces were basically worthless to begin with so who cares, they are his. I once destroyed a couple of circulated seated liberty dimes trying to "carve" them. You know what I learned? 1. I am in no way an artist... :) and 2. It cost me about $5 bucks to try and nobody cares that they are gone...

I don't care if he does it. Or if he wants to AT coins or Carve on them, they are his. But I do care when he comes here posting about it showing them off implying that it's good work and that others should try it. And I don't want people to read posts like that and not hear the opposing side of it.

Don't Tumble your coins, it will hurt them.

I didn't see him imply that it was "good work", that's merely your inference.
I don't think that tumbling coins is a good idea, nor do I think anyone should do it.
    But...
Many were making ad hominem attacks on Detecto, attacks which I feel have no place here.

Enough ! I don't want to hear another word similar to what has been going on. In any thread ! And if I do, you'll regret it.
