    On two encased coins.

The 1st one is a 1935 Wheat encased in a advertising piece for a clothing company. Sadly I cannot locate what town this was in.

As you can see, the condition is not good.

The tumbling process did not remove as much green on the front as I hoped, but took the green off the aluminum. The back cleaned up much better.

Here is another one. 1946 Iowa State Fair. Advertising for Sargent Feeds.

Totally roasted those... You could have made those look a lot better without ruining them.

No they weren't, but they were better before you tumbled them.

Never seen a before and after on a tumbler. I cant say I would ever do that, but thanks for sharing!

It's only for cleaning stuff with low value. Never to be used on high value stuff.

The issue here, I think, is that you're trying to improve the appearance of the coin by tumbling them... They seem to look worse to me now.

Who cares, i think detecto got enough critism (did i spell that right)? In his first thread. They're his coins, he's just experimenting.

They are only worth a couple bucks a pop. They look better for me, I'm not selling them.

I hear Verdicare works well too, might have been useful for those.

I believe your Wolfson's is from Lakeview, near Chicago. I googled it, and it seems to come up with some memories of a Jahn school there. You can google Wolfson's and 3121 Lincoln Ave, and look it up.

And yes, these encased coins probably have no real value. Most of the ones I've seen put out in this era (30s, 40s, 50s) have been mishandled so much that they are practically value-less. Unless you can find an error that's wanted. And even that probably won't carry much of a value, as the condition of the coin is bad. I have one from about 1947, I think. From a now extinct car dealership in Los Angeles. I've had that one since I was about 12 or so, my memories say my dad gave it to me. And of course I did not take care of it.

I am pretty sad actually. My great grandfather's farm is the site of the Iowa State Fair. I would have like that State Fair commemorative. The Fair is so important to my family that my mother's headstone is declaring the fact the Fair is on her family's land, and she is buried in the graveyard adjacent to the Fair.

Not to be a bummer, but I am kind of bummed by that coin. Sorry.

    Chris

P.S. I still would be interested if you ever want to trade it for something or sell it Detecto.
