Hi all, Just picked this one off the 'bay. The luster is simply stunning, and it appears to have FSB. I was wondering if it has a shot at gaining a high grade (MS66-67) at PCGS? If so, I might just send this one in. Date: 1936-P Thanks in advance! -CB
It's the actual picture that's been "worked on" (by myself), lol. The actual pictures are the seller's. I tried to sharpen up and add contrast to the picture to highlight the details. Below are his original pictures (quite blurry IMHO): I'll have to take a couple more pics when they come in the mail!
It needs another photo. You can't create information that doesn't exist through software. If you waant to leave it like that then I'll tell you that it not Full banded. It is full banded when I can see it.
I agree that we need better pictures. There is a lot of glare on the center bands of the fasces, so it's difficult to make an adequate determination as to whether is is FSB or not. The glare also precludes a fair grade, but it does appear to be a good strike.
Thanks for the responses. I agree with you that (as it stands right now) it's not FSB...but I'm holding out hope that it's the glare that's covering up the right part of the middle bands.
Are you confident in that, because in that photo it looks like just a surface mark. Of course the photgraph makes it impossilbe to see anything clearly. Ruben
It's plainly visible in both pictures. And on a coin that size, yeah, a scratch that big could get it in a Genuine or Details slab.
I noticed that as well when I was looking at it yesterday (but thought it was just an imperfection). A shame, really.
Coin has probably been dipped but would probably go into a holder if those aren't scratches on the neck. My guess is MS66FB.
I don't want to rain on your parade, but I tend to agree about the scratch on the neck. There is also a mark on the cheek and a visible mark in the right field on the reverse. If the coin did not receive a 'Genuine' grade, I don't feel it would go much higher than MS64/MS65.... that is of-course, if all other factors mentioned turn out to be non-issues. I am not sure, but it looks like you might have some machine doubling on the 3 & 6 in the date? It is still quite stunning from your pictures though... :thumb:
