While I'm aware of this (from seeing planchets for sale in the past), I don't fully understand how this affects my comment about the collar. If there were no collar around the coin during striking, wouldn't you end up with a blob on that part of the coin with a plateau look rather than the ravine look that the coin exhibits?
ok two things man.....unless you are on LSD, that coin is not worth 12Mil. ...come on think about it...thats what 7,8,9,10 1804 dollars???? now really that is a ridiculous statement and i am convinced you are doing this solely for face time...2) while the 1933 20$ is not slabbed , a coin slabbed in some obsolete piece of plastic that prob could be made with some plastic wrap is a sure negative....btw you are also well aware that you do not wish to sell the coin because if these (imaginary??) bids of "6-7 figures" are real you would have taken them bec. they would rationally only exist in dreams
I have a coin somewhere that is slabbed "struck thru detached fragment", which I imagine is the same thing as here.
When I was a teenager in the mid 80's I found a dime that was missing the ME on the back. I took it to a coin shop and he said he'd never seen anything like it and after checking it over he said he could tell it wasn't altered. Today I know it was probably a grease filled die. This guy still deals in coins and I'm wondering why he wouldn't have known what could have caused it when I showed it to him back then. At the time I figured it might be worth something. I don't know what ever happened to the dime. If e-bay would have existed back then, maybe I could've sold it as some kind of Princess Di coin. lol By the way, this picture is photoshopped and not the actual dime I owned.
Please don't revive this thread. You are only proving that you are a troll even more, and you want to get people annoyed.
Hello everybody, Nice to meet this website ! I'm from France and as you, I collect error coins. Unlike dollar, in France with euro, we have not most big error... You are very lucky ! But you have not bimetallic coins, big mistake ! ;-) There are several nice errors specific for this coin. See you Maxime (Escuse me for my bad english...)
Maxime, welcome! Nice shatter die error! Btw, your English is better than my French, so no worries. Whenever I see someone struggling a bit with English, I look to see where they are from. If they are not a native speaker, I don't worry about it, in fact I appreciate posts like yours more than average because of the extra effort it takes you. Please post an introduction on the intro forum so everyone can get to know you! Chris
Hi again, To present myself, I'm civil engineering student and numismatist, of course ! I was collected euro error coins for 4 years, and more particulary cuds, errors on bimetallics and soon, mules. So, to ask at the topic, my best favorite error is wrong core (on bimetallics again !!). (here : lamination before strike). Max
