I have about 50 or 60 Ike dollars. Are these worth anything other than face ? I was going to take them to the bank and cash them in if not. They are all in decent shape but if the value is 1.00 ea than I would probably be better putting them into junk silver...

cvc, there is no easy answer. It depends on grade, if there's an error or specific variety. Go to www.ikegroup.com for ALL the info you would ever need.

In general they sell on ebay for 1.15-1.30. My favorite dealer sells all of them that come to his shop for face value!

In the end, just sell them to ME! PM if interested.

most are 1971's a couple bi cent. and a couple 1972's none look like anything special....

  5. cvc: Check your 1971D Ike dollars for the Friendly Eagle variety. Check your 1972P Ike dollars for the Type 2 variety. I also like the 1976P Type 1 Ike dollars in high grade. As advised, the Ike group site is a good place to check these out. It will only take you a few minutes. TC

Some B&Ms sell these in 100 coin lots for as much as $35 over face, or $135.00.

If they are clad why would you put them in with your junk silver?

i ment seling them for face or whatever and adding that cash to my junk silver money I use to buy junk silver with.

I have a handfull of 1972's they all look the same, not sure a good way to tell the friendly eagle type.
I have only a couple 72's and one of them is in a plastic case and is gold plated ???

Click on varieties. There is a link to 1971D Friendly Eagle variety and 1972 Earths type 1, 2 and 3 (you want to find a type 2). All you need is right there on this site with great pics and details. Mint marks are on the obverse right under Ike.

I'd be interested also. The 71's have some interesting varieties.

TopCat, thanks for correcting my mistake for the Ike Group site. I got all excited and hit .com without thinking.

cvc, if you don't find what you're looking for or would rather just sell, send me a PM and we'll chat.

    Hi!

I stumbled across this page doing some research on the Eisenhower dollars. I recently got a bunch of them and was trying to figure out what to do with them. Deposit to a bank? Take them to a coin shop?

    Thanks in advance!

Hate to say it, but New Jersey is its own punishment.

    dsmith23 Gotta get 'em all

It depends on mintmark, condition, year, variety, there is no way to tell you what to do with them without pictures.

I got 50 of them - all different years, in fact I think there's at least one of each year. I'm not a coin collector, so I won't able to even estimate the condition, but they are not uncirculated. As for the marks - most of them have no mint mark and some are D's.
I'm not sure how collectible they are, but since I haven't seen these in person before, I figured they might be rare enough to fetch at least some premium on the face value.
