Hi. Im new to this forum and and hoping I can get some help. A friend of mine bought a bag of foreign coins at an auction and there was a coin in it that I cannot find any information about. The coin had some Asian writing at the top and "E&E" at the bottom. It has a coppery color, but I do not think it is all copper. I am trying to get a pic sent to me so I can post it. Any ideas? I have searched Google to death but cannot find anything.
LOL...I'm trying to get one, might have to see if they can bring it back to work tomorrow and just snap a pic with my phone.
That's true, Kasia, but the problem most of the time is that the phone pics are so bad & out of focus, that you couldn't tell if it was a photo of your grandmother or not. If it is just to identify a coin, that is okay, but if it is to identify an error or variety, they're almost worthless. I guess what rankles me the most are the people who come here posting terrible photos using their phone that cost them $100-$250, they spend $50-$100 per month for their service, yet they can't afford to buy even an inexpensive camera and copy stand (or at least a tripod). Chris
I agree some phones take garbage pics, like the blackberry. But you'd be surprised at some - they're pretty good. And an excellent real camera is invaluable.
I tried taking a pic with my phone and it is too blurry to see any detail. I have the coin in my possession and will take a pic with my camera at home. Looking at it now, it appears to have two hand reaching under a tulip or some flower and encircled by wheat stalks on the outer edge. Also, its the same image on both sides of the coin...kinda weird. Anyway...pics coming soon
What annoys me most of all is that they find a common coin in their pocket and rush it to cointalk for evaluation of their potential treasure, and THEN don't even have enough curtosy to post a decent picture. Yo man, your picture is BLURRY and I can't see your 1968 dime without a mint mark.
That's nice. I like the hands cupping the tulip. As far as the characters, they might be japanese, but I have no Idea what they mean. If both sides are the same, then it is more likely it is a token of some sort. Maybe for a game.
Reply Yo, Ruben! What makes you think my 68 dime isn't a proof missing the mintmark? It's nice and shiny. Chris
