Just thought I'd let all of you $2 bill nuts out there, who collect each series of $2 bill sheets, that they are now being delayed to SUMMER of this year and could even be subject to change. Orginally, the release date was spring of this year. Hopefully, these things will be out before those colored $100 bills that are "supposed" to exist.
I see where the BEP has already printed 512,000 Series 2009 $2 Dallas Star notes,(Feb.2012) and the sheets will follow soon. http://www.uspapermoney.info/serials/f2009_b.html
Will those be issued as uncut sheets or individual notes? I'd love to get some of those in uncut sheets.
I'm not positive, but believe the star notes will be used as replacement notes, and not sold as sheets. The last time $2 notes were sold as sheets was back in 1976 for the redesign.
I wonder where that information came from. The BEP site doesn't have the monthly production numbers up yet...
As the link Steve posted attests to, some guy named Ed Zegers filed a FOIA request which means he basically forced the BEP to release their production data to him. This mysterious Zegers fellow shared the information with everyone else which is why uspapermoney.info has up-to-date data even though the BEP hasn't updated their site. A question I would like to ask this Zegers is if it was really necessary to file a FOIA to get some production information from the government? While I think it is cool to know whats been printed and when, I realize and understand that 99.89% of the general population couldn't care less about this information. The BEP probably knows this which is why they were not in a big hurry to compile and release the monthly reports when they had more important things to work on, such as getting the problems with the new hundreds worked out.
I sent an email to the BEP store about availability of uncut $2 note sheets. This is their response: "Unfortunately, we do not have a timeframe as to when more of the $2 sheets will be available."
Hopefully they will release a few more print runs of uncut sheets in the current design, before they come out with the redesigned "Meaningful Access $2 bills. I want a few more old style sheets, which may increase in value as the new design comes out.
I don't have any $2 sheets. I was thinking about ordering, then *poof* they were sold out. Guess I'll have to wait and see if they will offer them again in the 2003a series.
