And that's pretty much the number I'd throw at it. 'Course I figure you knew that already And by the way, the 8 contestants - were in an axe fight
I am not seeing mid MS Grades here. Though I am not quite seeing MS grades there. Beautiful coin, tough date and might get a bump there but what I am seeing is AU58. Wouldn't be surprised with a 62 in the TPG eyes though.
Although it is difficult to properly determine from your images, when I look at the devices strike, and field luster, I discount the bag marks and expect a grade at least that of this coin: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1892-CC-20-GOLD-LIBERTY-DOUBLE-EAGLE-NGC-UNCIRCULATED-DETAIL-RARE-NICE-/130683296407?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e6d54da97 I have that coin certified MS63, which was searched for many years, and as I recall, was ultimately amazed at bag marks on the strong strike higher certified grade Type II coins. It was a significant 5 figure coin many years ago. I may be incorrect, but that is my recollection for this type coin. I hope that I'm correct, as although it is one of the less expensive Carson City coins of that type, it is a still a "difficult" coin to locate. Best Wishes!! :thumb:
AU58 - I don't believe the design weakness is only caused by a poor strike... I detect hints of wear. -Brian
How on earth is everyone saying MS? There is a fair bit of wear all along the obverse from what I see. While the fields on the reverse are nice and clear mostly there is a couple deep gouges like on the shield. I think AU55 or possibly if they are feeling harsh they may grade it AU50
