Hey gang, I´m up to my neck getting the collection together and I have to translate the english words " types of errors " to Icelandic and it´s rather funny. But my head just cant remeber what kinds " types of " errors these are What is that clip error called on teh left hand side and the right hand side "i´m just lost " with all the coins I have gone trough and translated my brain just went PUFFF
The one on the left looks more like some weird type of post mint damage than a normal clip. I would expect the edge of a clip to be round? But, I could be incorrect.
Yep - but the edges look pretty rough, and that curved part on the top and bottom are really strange.
The coin on the left looks to me like Post Mint Damage, The coin on the right is either a mis-aligned die or an uncentered broadstrike. Can't tell which without seeing the other side. If the other side is properly centered then it is mis-aligned die. If it is off to the side like the picture of this side and none of the design is missing then it is an uncentered broadstrike. If the other side is off and part of the design is missing then it is an off-center coin.
Thanks Conder it´s uncentered broadstrike, For the life of me I remeber getting the OK for the clip but I asked him again. Maby it´s just wishful thinking. Siggi
Siggi sent me an e-mail asking for my opinion on the coin seen at left. This is the first time I've seen the image. It's not a curved clip or a straight clip. If it's genuine, it would most likely be an odd form of pre-strike damage. The presence of a Blakesley Effect (weakness of the rim) at the pole opposite the deficit suggests it's genuine. I see no metal flow in the design elements bordering the deficit, but this might only be detectable under high magnification.
Thank you Mike for answering me, I apprciate that. I have absolutly no idea how to translate all of that infromation to Icelandic LOL
