Last night I found a penny in the bank roll of nickels that is the size of a nickel, and it has the old style tails and the newer style tails on the same side on top of each other, and the heads side is completely flat and empty. What could it be worth?? Thanks, Andrew
Yup! I predict the "newer style tails" (aka the reverse) will be incused and reversed. The obverse is blank and the coin is the size of a nickel because someone laid a Shield Cent on a Wheat Cent and whacked them with a hammer.
Rolls dont mean anything. That roll could have been rolled by a drop out felon who works at a bank, and put that cent in a vice.
Welcome to Coin Talk! What you have is a hammer job! Post Mint Damage! Someone just fool'n around! Not worth anything! Keep it if you like it! Doesn't matter if it's a roll from the bank. The coins are rolled by a third party and can contain anything they pick up from customer's deposits. Or..... If you want to believe it's an error, then "Congratulations! You have the rarest coin ever! Probably worth millions!" Then you will be very embarrassed when you go to sell it.
