Between Coins and Aquariums (of course I had to pick two of the most financially demanding hobbies) I'm always excited to find a new local store. I went in to Race City Coins in Mooresville, NC, yesterday, and I'll be excited to go back for another look again soon. I didn't even know the store was there so I didn't have my full list of needs with me, but picked up a couple of nice BU Kennedy's for my Uncirculated collection.
Chatted with the guy working the counter and enjoyed the visit. Can't wait to go back.

It is always great to find a new shop, and one with a friendly owner is even better.

Are your aquariums salt water? If not you haven't really hit the expensive level yet.

    Freshwater is collecting XF/AU coins
    Saltwater is collection MS coins

Good for you! I hope it proves to be mutually beneficial.

:eek:ff-topic: Whenever I think of North Carolina, I think of NASCAR, and when I think of NASCAR, I think of a coin shop I visited once in Grand Junction, CO. Why? Because it was a coin shop and NASCAR memorabilia shop combined.

While it isn't Saltwater, it is a 150Gallon tall, high light planted South American Community Aquarium... Blue Angels, Bolivian Rams, tetras, and catfish... The tank is a beast. I bought it for it's Reef Potential down the road. Craigslist for coins can be hit or miss, but Craigslist for used Aquariums is awesome!

Always cool to find a new coin store. Finding an honest store with a good owner is a huge bonus.

Aquariums are very expensive, I thought it was cool when I was a kid though.

Not to seem naive, but how do you collect aquariums? And do you keep fish in them or are they just empty?

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that I collect aquariums. I was trying to say that my two hobbies are money pits. I do have several aquariums though. A 150gallon planted tank, a 55 gallon hybrid tank, a 10 gallon crayfish tank, and a 2 gallon planted dwarf pufferfish tank. There are also a couple of breeding tubs for the Wakin Goldfish that I have in my 1500 gallon outdoor pond.

I sold my reef after a few years with it. I loved it but it was really expensive to keep going. Seemed like every month I had to buy something for it. The lights are expensive to replace every year. It was alot of $$ value sitting there relying on a glass tank and your power for survival. If anything gives out you can lose it all in a huge catastrophe. Its an awesome hobby and I wouldnt rule out getting another tank. Maybe a fish only, but its hard not to buy coral.

For now though Im dry. I sold everything and put it into coins a couple years ago.
