Had to dump one of my dump banks today. They didn't advertise ANYWHERE except a very very small square on their coin machine that they charge 3% transaction fee even if you ARE a customer. My $100 in dimes only added up to $99.81. I told the teller (1) I didn't have any pennies, (2) I'm .20 short aside from the supposed penny for some reason and (3) no one every mentioned a fee to me when I opened the acct. So (4) please close my acct. She took my passbook and went whispering to another teller. The second teller came back to say "ok, I can close your acct, but since you're doing it within 90 days of opening it - there's a $10 CANCELLATION FEE." There was only $10 in the acct anyways, so i told her very very politely to stick it and close the acct. I was then given $96 and change. UGH.

I'd have to agree with HOTN on this, Pballer. BofA, I dare say, seems almost overzealous with helping to order coins. I actually had a rep from a few towns away tell me on the phone today "if there are certain coins you are looking for or collecting, we can work with you on that, but if you're looking for a large amount we have no problems ordering that for you as well." I'm very tempted to take him up on the offer since I can't really afford whole boxes of halves temporarily.

Box of dimes - 2 Roosies.

I feel for the small towners. In NYC, I usually don't get more than a box or two per week per branch, and that is of dimes, which is a normal order (and doesn't raise flags).

As a side point, that puts me at 10 OZ in dimes for the year (140 total). That is slightly better than last year.

That is peanuts! I order way more and dump way more at every single bank I frequent. Just last week because I was getting skunked on half box after half box I got 2 boxes of dimes from my BoA branch and they don't even order them for me. They just know I come in every week asking for dimes. All of the tellers have a box in their mini vaults and they plop it on the counter for me to inspect (to make sure they are not solid 2011P's) I plunk down the cash and I'm out the door. I drop off coin lock bags at one branch each week with at least $500 - $750 in halves for them to send out and my account be credited. Been doing it for a while and no one gives me a hard time. I do bring them Godiva every now and again.

I had an issue with Wells Fargo yesterday. The head teller (new bit**) made up a "new policy" about how they'd have to access me a fee to CASH IN rolled coins. I wanted to cash in $100 in nickels - all rolled, and I have 3 accounts with them. They wouldn't let me without a "fee".

I called corporate, and the other local branch - there's no such policy.
I'll make a thread about the whole story soon.

Newest finds include a really nice 1947 struck through grease wheatie. Can't hardly see the 7 at all. I found 7 full rolls of wheats at the bank and bought them all. It was inside. Also found a 1909 VDB in a roll a while back. In the more recent rolls I hunted I found 350 wheats of 350 pennies. lol. some teens, a 1910, 1916, 3x 1918, 3x 1919, a 1919s, a 1925d and some others. Check the finds out on my YouTube channel: YouTube.com/gabeman3000. It's being uploaded/published right now so check back in about 25 minutes and it'll be up. Thanks for watching!

Asked for a box of dimes and they were out?? I don't have an account there so I took what they could give me.
    They had $175 in CWR dimes - 1 X 1956 Roosie
    A couple modern Canadians
A 5 pence ender - come on now
    A bermuda 10 cent piece

With the way this month has been going, I'll take that Roosie. Here's to the month getting better for all of us. Ace & Yacorie come to mind.

Picked up the rest of what that bank had today, they would only give me $100 more... 2 more 40%ers... so 4 40%ers out of $200... pretty good! Opened an account and had them order me 2 boxes a week, starting next week. They use Garda, seems like everybody else around me uses Loomis.

Picked up 2 boxes from another bank, first had 2 40%ers and a '64, second was a skunk. That skunk was my first skunk box in almost 2 weeks... $3700 between skunks. Shame my good luck had to run out.

Merc, if you sell the silver think of it like this:

    1) You are helping a sick animal.

    2) More than likely you got the silver at face value, so you aren't out TOO much money however it IS silver.

    3) Think of all the...*ahem* fun times your girlfriend will want to have with you! In the words of Captain James T. Kirk "To boldly go where no man has gone before!"

I have tried some nickel, dime, and quarter rolls and found nothing. I ordered a box of halves, nothing. I have had better luck with pennies and found several wheat pennies lately including a 1910 along with plenty of copper pennies to add to my stash.
