That's a great coin. I see them on eBay a lot, but so far haven't picked one up. Seems like I always see something I want more.:D

Is it silver? I'm working on an Irish collection (among many others) but some of the silver coins and the farthings are on the back burner.

Yes it is, Sir. I over paid by 1 cent. It was $22.99 with tax but I handed the shop keep $23.00 and told him to keep the change.

I think that was a good price. eBay has them selling for around $20 something up to $60.

On another note and relating to the recent gossip news regarding your person:
Like you, I also have announced my romantic intensions to my beloved and will be entering into that religious/legal contractual obligation. I'm wondering whether this will effect my purchasing power.

Hey, congrats on your engagement also! Personally I'm expecting my coin buying to go way down. Contrary to the stereotypes, my fiancee never buys anything for herself, and I don't think she'll like it if she's saving every cent and I'm always buying coins. The sacrifices we make for love ...

Well, I just gave mine the riot act for purchasing two lamps at Target. Oopps...then I realized I just purchased the coin above for the same price. I've got a lot to learn. Now I have to wash dishes.

    BTW: Congratulations Sir Hiddendragon!

Thanks. And I didn't mean to get your discussion off track. I like the coin. It kind of reminds me of this Greek 30 drachmai I've been trying to get. Not in appearance, but I'm guessing it's a similar size and silver content.

    Great price!
I got mine at $31, you would think you`d get things cheaper from the country it came from but...no.
How are you going to store yours? They`re a fairly "thick" coin.
    Congratualtions as well! :thumb:

    Thank you very much. :smile

I store my coins in 2x2's writing down the appropriate information and placing them in 1" binders. Simple, kinda.

I got mine the old fashioned way.

In 1966 I was a teenager living in California and had been into coins since 1964.

I had been ordering coins from various foreign banks and mints.

I ordered two of the Ireland 1966 Patrick Pearse 10-shilling silver coins from the
Central Bank of Ireland, they were sent to me via registered mail, and arrived in
    California on June 6, 1966.

    The envelope they came in:

    I still have them.
