I know this is in bad shape, and serious currency collectors probably wouldn't want it in their collection, but I think it's neat. 1897 10 centavos from Cuba. It's from the year before the Spanish American War and is about three inches long. I like it for the history in it. Just wanted to share.

I like the old Cuba notes as well. I've only picked up one so far:

    Good notes guys :thumb:

I don't have old cuban notes, only some modern, my favorites are these two, with the signature of Ernesto "Che" Guevara as "Presidente del Banco", which he held from November 1959 to February 1961

Those are some neat notes you all posted. I wonder on that last 5 pesos from 1960 if that might be the Rough Riders charging. It would seem strange to glorify another nation's invasion but it looks a little like them.

I don't know what exactly represents that picture, but it seems that the riders have a Cuban flag, not an American, as it would if they were the Rough Riders.
Probably it celebrates a fact in the life of Maximo Gomez, Cuba's military commander in that country's War of Independence, whose portrait is on the right of the note.

Yeah, you're probably right. I can't see the flag well enough to see what it is but that would make more sense.
