Yup, you might end up paying $100 for something worth 10 cents. 10 cents can't even buy you a stick of gum nowadays.

So the next move is up to you JMclements. You've been to dealers who've supposedly verified this coin is indeed a proof. You've received advice from numerous members here to 'send the coin in' to a reputable third party grader. You've kicked this thread alive again a few times (.........) (.........). What ya gonna do? You gonna continue to waste everyones time?

I posted on this forum to find out what options and best route I should take in regards to the coins worth.

    Let the adults talk .

Waste everyones time? I already got the info I needed. I dont know what " kick this thread alive" means? I am not that familiar with the internet, and do not have time to be on the internet horse playing around. I just wanted to find an answer to a question regarding a coin. I really do not need any further responses.

I was really excited that towards the end of the thread I'd see more photos... bummer...

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

$500.00 says that when it comes back it'll be a business strike and/or we'll hear nothing more from the OP about it.

How can even an expert determine without doubt that this or any other used coin is proof? $5,000 is a lot of money to spend on a difficult to prove hypothesis. By definition there is no means of determining providence of coins that have been in circulation.

I am most definitely an adult. Since you refuse to honor peoples' requests to post more pictures I can only assume that your whole story about this coin is a big farce, wasting the time of those who have tried to give you an opinion.

I'm not taking sides, but let's say for a second you're right.... why would the OP do this? I literally had to quit reading the roll searchers thread because of people claiming "amazing" finds (talk about a farce) So again I ask, why do people do it?

1-Mommy didn't pay enough attention to them when they were young.
    2-They're dreamers.
3-They're envious of those that score big with their finds.
4-They just like stirring the pot.
    etc., etc.

First off, you can drop that tude dude. You came to us seeking opinions and advice and we've given you that based on the blurry, dark photo.

Secondly, we(CT members) are hearing this from you and you alone, not any dealer you may have taken this coin to.

Third, it seems highly unlikely any dealer, in their right mind, would make any statement as to how much they would pay for something if it were slabbed. I don't know any dealer who operates like that, in fact I've had many dealers tell me to submit the coin and see what it comes back as and they'll make an offer at that point.

Your photo is poor quality, blurry, and in dark lighting as well as small and no one on this forum can say with any degree of certainty that it is a no S proof dime.

Several members, myself included, strongly feel this is nothing more than a highly buffed, business strike, dime, made to look like a proof, that was struck in Philadelphia, hence the lack of the mint mark.

If you don't like what we've been telling you, you are more than welcome to submit that to either PCGS or NGC and prove us wrong.

You're also welcome to upload larger, more clearer photos, in better lighting so we can see what YOU are seeing in hand, that we don't have the privilege of because we DON'T have the coin in hand.

This is one reason I don't usually bother with error coins. Some people seem to get so wrapped up in them they think they have error coins when they actually don't. It's almost a disease, they find a coin that's different or odd, so it must be an error and they have Read Only Memory from that point on, no matter what you tell them, they can't change their mind or perspective. They got an error and everyone else is wrong! They're only lying to themselves and they actually believe themselves.

You should see the crap that I had listed as errors when I first started collecting. I look at them now and I get embarassed that I was so far off.

Amanda, no offence but you have a lot to learn about coins.
