I have a 2006 Canadian quarter that has a small disc in the center of the reverse with the Pink Ribbon on it.

i dont think you cant buy stuff on reddit; it was just posted as a pic. i am going to order 1 from the canadian mint for my girl. i hope they keep them going for a few years and a few dinosaurs. seems steep, but if it gets her interested, totally worth it.

Some people think $49.95 plus $4.95 shipping for a 1 ounce ASE from the U.S. Mint is steep, but they still order them anyway.

I just ordered 5 of them. I figure we can stock 4 at the shop and I'll give my son 1. ;)

    They are pretty cool.

My 6 year old loves dinosaurs, ordered just now for him. :)

Edit: Actually not ordered just yet. I can't justify spending $30 on a 25 cent piece with $12.99 shipping. I need to find something else to order from them to make it more worthwhile. :(

There are a lot of different dinosaur coins to choose from. I always liked another Canadian series that made maybe half a dozen like this: [IMG]

they do have that really nice 2.2lb .9999 gold medal. 60k. i think that would qualify for free shipping. who would buy that!

Try Gatewest coins - they handle current Canadian issues and the shipping may be less than the RCM.
I've dealt with them and have been very satisfied.

Hmmm, seems they want to charge $12.00 for shipping as well, is lower if you spend $100 or more.

I kind of consider it a novelty, but if it gets more kids interested in our hobby, I'm all for it. As long as the US nor Ca mint go crazy

I can accept that. But why the hefty price tag for this? That's a lot o' jing for a kids coin. And I do agree with you guys in this.....try to get the kids interested.....I just think they could have done it for less.

Yeah, I'd love to get this for my kid but don't feel the coin itself is worth the $30 price tag with $12 shipping charges. I can buy an ASE or a whole lot more coin for such price.

Totally agree. The Canadian mint does have some other really nice coins to help reduce the overall shipping, but their mint is JUST like the US in that many of their coins are very overpriced. I love the 1812 coin in the mint set, but can do the $200 plus.

Agreed, but does an ASE do it for the kiddies? Hard to say and only you can answer that for your kids.

How 'bout the New Zealand mint? Seen some serious rubbish from that place
