I'm going to reply with the actual grades of these coins on April 16th. Meanwhile keep guessing and keep me entertained. Thanks!
You folks are making a bigger issue of this "keep me entertained" business than I was bargaining for. I didn't mean it to point you guys out as being a bunch of foolish Edited Please read the rules, substituted symbols does not cut it. http://www.cointalk.com/t34131/
Okay folks, so, at the stroke of Midnight on 04/16 Eastern Time I'm going to give the results of the grades. Any last guesses make them now!
Here are the grades. No one was right but it doesn't surprise me at all. These are some of the best specimens I've ever seen for these grades! Maybe the NGC graders were in an angry mood the day they were looked at?
Under graded for sure. I have always liked NGC because they are so accurate. The same is true for the coins graded by PCI and the old ANACS. PCGS is OK, and the rest seem to over grade most coins. About the only reason I by coins slabbed by one of the above companies is because I like the coin or if it is rare date and I intend to re-sell the coin. Remember, Buy the coin and not the slab.
Frankly I think coin grading services are not worth it. The graders are bought with a price tag. There is less honesty and truth in how coins are graded nowadays. Years ago the grading was a lot more accurate, now it's turned just shy of a joke. Oddly, I find ANACS to grade more accurately than NGC or PCGS. Since NGS and PCGS have the well established reputation they think they're invincible but I know better and they have to think again. People will figure it out eventually. You can't fool people forever.
